Got any more pics you would like to share?

I ran a new personal best today at WHPMP (formally Firebird, now Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park) at 10.66@126. No changes to the car, this was all due to the resurfaced track. The scales were open and this was also the first time I scaled my car: 3839lbs with a full tank of gas and my 217ish butt in the seat. Using the online calculators my stock stroke, stock block, TRW, Purple Shaft 440 is making around 625hp (with a little N2O)!
Saw your car there yesterday. Beautiful. We actually ran in the same class ( 10.99 and faster ). I went out in the second round when I broke out ( went 10.62 on a 10.68 dial - 127.27. Although the track is very nice, it's all about prep. We ran there last Friday night and it was an ice skating rink. Again, congrats on your runs and a beautiful car.

I've come to the conclusion that I'll probably never bother with another friday night ever again… I'm going to only plan on making it to ACTUAL races. I'm done with the friday night foolishness.
I rather liked the track on friday nights when we ran those "Hot Teams" heads up deals.... kind of threw another angle to the race results, but I do agree.... the crowds of fwd stereo thumping fart pipe cars strewn about the staging area was a bit annoying.

I miss the Hot Teams. Heads up racing is a lot more fun than brackets, and that was an interesting format.
I don't see me running many more FNDs either. The daytime events are more conducive to the family. This was my first attempt at bringing my little girls (2.5 years and the other is 2 months). I wanted to actually compete, but the family got tired around 1pm. I see an RV in my future if I'm going to continue with this hobby.
It was a fun event with a nice mix of cars. Quite a few MOPARs and a 1970 twin to my car. I intended on swinging by his pits and snapping a few pics, but ran out of time.
Thanks for the compliments!
Later,
Greg

The "new" friday night "crowd" is mainly clueless about how things are supposed to work at the track. They don't recognize lane designations, they don't know where the starting line is. They certainly don't want anybody trying to explain it to them, and they REALLY don't like the idea of any rules being in place. The "spectators" don't care where they park their cars, or even want to acknowledge that the "racers" might even have a pit spot… you know, where all their stuff is when they are in the staging lanes? There doesn't appear to be any organized attempt to educate any of them about how it's supposed to work either.
I'm old and crotchety, but should simply know better than try to occupy the same place as all the idiots. So it's "race only" dates for me… because only getting 2 passes in when you can count on the track prep is still way ahead of rolling up to the line after some FWD street wheenie has brought a bunch of water to the line.
