This is the same argument that revolves around cranks, period; some swear there were no forged BB cranks after '76 regardless of transmission. If cast cranks were the rule of the day in '77 and '78 then it follows that stick shift vehicles would have cast cranks in those years.

FWIW I have had 2 different 78 truck steel crank 440's w/std trans. Both were neutral balance with heavy (6pk) rods.

I have 2 documented. Both are 75 W200 clubcabs. Have had several other claims but no paperwork that could back them up. Never say never
