Plunge cut heads with three angle valve job by Herb McCandless, bowls blended,2.14 intakes, 1.81 exhausts, Comp hydraulic 268 @ .050 .540 lift in at 105.5, pro magnum 1.6 rockers,(made .570 lift) 10.2 static compression, 8.37 dynamic, 35 degrees advance, M1 mopar single plane intake, reverse dome KB hyperutectic pistons all set at .046 by machining chambers flat, 2 inch headers, 750 holley. Peak torque at 5,000was 506, 535 hp at 6100 rpm. From 4200 to 5800 the motor stayed aboVe 480 torque. I figure that isn't too bad for a juice cam 452 low deck motor on pump swill non oxy 92. The motor lost power trying to mix 25 percent race gas. Ron at R&R dyno service in Spring Lake Park MN was really surprised it didn't detonate and the power it made on 92.

Josh Bishman put the combo together, Brad Moe owner driver. REREAD THE ORIGINAL, AS I ADDED ALL NEW SPECS GIVEN TO ME BY THE GUYS. The cam is a very old grind with actual 268/268/108 duration at .050 tappet lift. I ran one in a 475 cube motor on alky many years ago, great cam for bracket racing.

Sounds good.............love the tight lsa`s n/a.............
I like the tight lsa too. Not a bad combo. Ditch the 750 though, they have more on the table HP wise.
ET will depend on the vert, Im thinking 11.40,s 4000 vert or better 11.20,s with a more optimum vert of 4800 or so. Just a opinion, nice build though.

I would have thought a bigger carb would have helped, too, but a dyno carb of bigger cfm was tried(1,000?) and lost 3 hp! I am thinking there is some power in a longer collector, not sure what they had on the dyno though. The dyno headers may have had a long collector.

In all my scratching to take down the info I now see the static compression is 10.2. The web site I use says that with a 59 degree close at .050 will give a cranking compression of 168 lbs, 8.37 dynamic. I corrected the original post, as the dynamic compression was wrong, along with the static being listed incorrectly as 10.4

The dyno operater Ron is one of the best, and I am sure they checked the AFR with the bigger carb. They did run out of time, as the next customer was there chomping at the bit. That dyno doesn't sit idle very long!

... It is going in a 68 Roadrunner automatic, 4.30 gears, 30 inch radial drag slicks, 3800 race weight. We figure mid elevens, any comments on projected ET?
That bigazz cam is going to need a lot of converter to get that thing moving off the line.
It might also be happier w/ 1-7/8" headers instead of 2" to help reclaim some of the lost mid-range.
It's not the way I'd have built it, but it ain't my car or $$$, either. I hope it hauls a$$!

The motor was built on a very tight budget, reusing some parts from a previous 383 build, and a used stroker assembly. The whole build was done for under $5,000. The headers for the car will be Hooker 1 7/8, and the converter that flashed to about 3600 rpm with the 383 (same cam) will be used behind this motor, which has a lot more torque. Considering the very flat torque curve, it should perform very well IMHO. My stab at it is 11.50s on a great day, maybe better. The average air on a good day here is 1400 to 2,000 DA, average is somewhat higher.
