State of confusion
I need to finally change my ft. pads on the heap and called Wilwood directly and talked to Jeff about my pad needs and also explained the rotor drag so many complain about on here. He recommended replacing the square o-rings they come with with round o-rings so that`s my next job to get rid of the drag and I`ll let ya know how they work.

Are these O-rings something they have available, or you find on your own?

i thought the whole purpose of the square cut ring was to aid in piston retraction to reduce drag

Jeff explained it to me as the opposite.............square=more surface area hence more drag....round=less surface area less drag and even said the round release farther and might even require more brake peddle to get em to grab............

That's what we were told in automotive school. The square ring deflects when the piston is applied and then when pressure is released, the square ring returns to it's normal shape pulling the piston back when it does. I can't see how a round ring would work better but let us know how it works out.

I'm just gonna throw this out there. I had a front set of wilwood brakes with 1 pc rotors(not seperate hat/rotor)The rotors would "cup" from heat. This would cause binding because the rotor was traveling through the caliper at an angle. It would cause the binding you describe. I went through two sets and gave up on the 1pc rotors, went to hat style rotors, and it never happened again. I will disclose that the brakes were way under rated for the weight and speed I was running.

"use it 'till it breaks, replace as needed"

Havn`t messed w/mine for 10+ years but I think they`re the 2-piece vented ones IIRC but I`ll double check. What can I do to check/correct the issues you mentioned........... I get it, don`t run 1-piece rotors.............
