Yeah pull off the boots. I used some 5/8" id 1" od tube with a hole drilled for a plug weld and also welded both ends. It cooked the grease out but thats what zerks are for. They move exactly as they did before after I welded it up then tossed it into a snow drift.
Cool, thanks for the tips! Will do this too now , cheers

lol I was the last person to post on this old subject. I'm curious how these endlinks having been holding up for you guys? It got me thinking, why couldn't you cut the bar out between the two heads completely and weld the two heads together? just make sure they are ground flat on the backside, I think this would be better than trying to cut and weld a small piece inbetween. this will enable you to weld easier, get a stronger weld, and should probably shorten this to get the 3" we need...

You could do that just fine, it all depends on the length you need I had to space mine down to clear the strut rods in my car and my swaybar is slightly pointing down from parallel with the ground at ride height. Throw it into a corner and it will be parallel.

I'm on my second set. The first set developed some play in the joints. Total mileage on hemi swap is ~7500 miles with ~50 track sessions at an average 20 min each, etc. Maybe they lasted for half that number.

Trjnmn -- the Moogs are durable parts and Moog carries a high-quality aftermarket reputation for the great majority of their parts. The only issue here, is that they are stock-type (actually better than stock) replacement parts... BUT.. they don't offer the "adjustability" in their length for equalizing the pre-load if so desired. With the factory type design, using washer spacers to equalize the end link attachments will get better finite results. Again, this is just "fine-tuning" the setup. How much will someone notice?... When fractions of seconds add up, that will be the difference.
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/penguin-015.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Snowblow.gif" alt="" /> I have .006" thick washers that I can use as shims, how finite do you need to be? Tim

For best "finite" setup, first get the car 4-wheel corner balanced with the sway bar end-links disconnected.... goal is to get the lf/rf, and lr/rr corners, matched best as possible with the driver's weight in the driver's seat, as well as the car loaded as you'd typically drive (or race) it (...how much fuel, trunk stuff, etc tbd by you). Then, match the sway bar end links so that they equally get attached. You'd be surprised to see the difference in pre-load the sway bar can make if the end links are not equally matched to prevent excessive pre-load from one side to the other. IF you're using stock-type end links, use extra bushing washers to best match them up. Adjustable threaded (heim-type) end-links would be the best whenever possible.
when corner weight balancing a car, don't be concerned about body height lines, etc .. your prime concern is the weight shown on each of the four scales.. again.. lf/rf, lr/rr.

From the looks of it, I would go with the Moog and cut the end of the threaded stem to shorten the length. Tim

I am wondering how these have been working for you? So how have these lasted? Have you had any clearance issues? Did you trim them? I am wondering if I move the mount up an inch on the control arm to correct the sway bar angle. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Tim Bought these today: 5.5" from mount to mount: Side by side pictures: Will let y'all know how these fit

Nice.
Just FYI- it doesn't take long for the joints to develop slop. I'm on my second set currently.

Dan, did you make bushings for your eyes? Looks good. Not the best pic but you can see how short mine are. They have about 1500 miles on them and are still tight.

I have them on, and they hang down low, but i think I'll cut the whole center out and weld the two heads together, they have the perfect bevel for it pic of how low she hangs which part number did you install? would it be possible to install taller mounts on the control arm? I don't have my car along enough to find out...Tim
