No gain even at 16 inches. The motor didn't use oil with low tension rings and the oil stayed cleaner. I would suggest not running that much main bearings don't look good oil psi drops too much with that much vacuum.
best so far 8.53 @ 158.59 MPH 60'1.240

Did you gain anything when you added a vacuum pump? Is it worth the money? My car goes 6.0's without a vacuum pump will I gain anything with one? Thanks
Most low tension rings like a vac pump but any help evacuating the pan only helps.. to my understanding you dont want to go above 14"hg

I tested my motor with and without the pump. In my combo it was worth about 25 hp.

Didn't test on the dyno, but a vacuum pump didn't make any difference at the track on my cuda. It has low tension rings too. If you do buy one, do NOT get an Aerospace pump.

Mine makes about 8-10" at WOT, which may be why I've never seen any performance increase. I've had 2 pumps fail and problems w/ the drive mandrels too. Much better w/ the CV products drive mandrel now. When this pump dies, I'll put a Moroso on it. Of course I do street drive mine, whish isn't recommended, but I don't know anyone w/ an Aerospace pump that likes it...even on a race only car.

How much is "not enuff" cos too much has ill affects I understand.........
If you can create vac at lower RPMs then have a vac relieve its better... I dont run a vac pump on my W-9 because its a dry sump and that pumps pulls 12"hg and thats close enough for me

What ring dimensions are you running in your engine? Thinner rings will see more gains. A 5/64" or 1/16" rings won't see the gains that a 0.027" ring will.

I have a moroso 3 vane and can only get 10-12 inches. I heard the four vanes are much better. But I have gotten rave reviews about the GZ pumps.

Mine is a .043 ring set with low tension oil

I was running 10.30s before adding a Moroso pump. I had been running crankcase evacuation through the header collectors prior to that. I saw no difference in ET or MPH after adding the pump. I was disappointed as I had hoped to at least drop a consistent .1 sec. I have a feeling that the power gain is ate up by the parasitic loss of running the pump itself. BTW, I am running low tension rings as well.
No dyno data, just track testing...

FWIW--I have heard that for a vacuum pump to be effective, you need to install your crankshaft oil seals backwards?
Only if you go above a certain point.. a lot of the seal companies say above about 14" to 16"hg but if the seal surface is weak then that point would be lower

Low tension, 0.043 ring package here with a 4 vane Moroso, 12 In/Hg max, maybe worth 0.05 on our combo IIRC.
