Like the orange box for the simplicity if it ever craters on the road side some where.

What problems are there from running that coil with the orange box?

your referring to an e-coil right? regardless, with the orange box you need to run a ballast resistor. that ballast will reduce voltage (current) to the coil as well as the ECU. you will see little advantage to using it with reduced voltage. what 4gearsavoy was trying to sway you from was the orange box not necessarily the coil. they are highly prone to failure. if you are wanting to upgrade but keep plug and play abilities try the revinator. plugs right in. then you can ditch the ballast and use whatever coil you want. there has been alot of testing of this ECU by folks on this site. look up member dunnuck racing on this site and read some of the threads. he has done quite a bit of testing on it. this is the main thread - https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...e=1#Post6927491 - but of course it is side-tracked all over.

Well after reading a bunch of threads on the Rev-n-ator and sifting through all the crying I am really thinking about giving it a try -if it wasn't back ordered-

However the statements about the use of the ballast resistor confuse me as R/T garages website says the use of a ballast is HIGHLY recommended for street cars. The coils listed for use are the MSD blaster, Firecores and Accel super coil.

Possessed, Give Ron a call .Our HP cylinder coil would be the ticket. The CD coils will not work. It is fully compatible with your Orange box, plus, when you upgrade to the Rev-n-Nator, it works great with that as well.. 866-973-9473. Call tonight if you like. Glad it worked out.

i'll go out on a limb here and say that the recommendation is for a case where you would be using a 'stock' coil to keep it from over-heating. the performance coils listed do NOT require a ballast. i would ask that question to R/T garage or maybe Dunnuck Racing. both are members.
