Kilkare
Pros: New racing surface. Very nice. They've spent allot of money cleaning the place up and it looks nice.
New timing system.
Cons: They've spent allot of money on fences and gates, its kinda hard to get around the place once inside.
You can't really see the racing action from the new staging lanes. There's a 12am -10am curfew on the weekends. You can't even start a race engine between those hours let alone race down the track. They had trouble finishing races last year because of this.
Alcohol must be purchased from the track and consumed in their "beer garden". Don't get caught with beer at your trailer out you will get kicked out. This could be a problem at a weekend race where people tend hang out after racing is over and camp.
Track runs 8th mile for all classes except sportsman due to a fairly short shut down area. (which may out may not be a problem with people)
Also tech is pretty strict(which can be a good thing) make sure you're up to date on certs, Licenses, belts ect.

The beer thing might kill that track if they have
3 day events(or over night camping).. I know I wouldnt
go if they start kicking out racers due to that

Most of the crowd I know said that the no beer in the pits rule means that they won't be going to Kilkare.

I witnessed a conversation with Josh where he stated the no beer clause does not apply to us during this event.
But I too could survive without it to have a nice race weekend.

Been to Kil-Kare track it hooked well but if your fast in the 1/8 mile be on the binders fast the end of the track comes up fast. Bathrooms were ok, Pits were 50-50 some paved some grass, no breakfast at the concession stand.

Hmmmmmm --- a little and a little

but NOT necessarily in that order

Only issue I see is that it's an 1/8 mile track and I do not like that so not sure if I'll go to this one yet,

Scott had said he would have flyers ready to pass out by the Indy show. Obviously that didn't happen.

I went out to dinner with the Cottleville bunch Friday evening at a Japanese Steakhouse in Indy (Ginza) and everyone was discussing upcoming Mopar events.

There were lots of rumors of what is and what's not going on.
From what was said, some of the Gateway rumors were coming out of Josh's camp.

At that point Kilkare hadn't been officially announced.

No real news from Scott, I tried calling him Friday night to see what he has to say about what happening.
No answer (No big surprise) so I left a voice asking him to call and let people know what's going on.
I don't really expect to hear back from him.
Scott (like other people/promoters) only call if they want something.

Randy B. might have more of an idea of what's going on, he knew about Scott's plans before most anyone did.

I guess we'll know on March 17th when Gateways finalized schedule is posted.

As far as the being able to drink in the pits at Kilkare, it's not a big thing to me.
I'm not that much of a drinker anyway, only after I'm done racing or at a party.

Most of the people I know do want to pop a beer at their trailer when their done too (some sooner).

If they are allowed to drink in the pits it needs to be made known otherwise it's gonna mean that some people aren't going to show in the first place.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

I can vouch fo what FY1TA is saying...that car has many 8 sec @ 154 - 156 passes there without issue and that was at 2960lbs.
KK has many quick races no issue.

Thier liquor license doesn't permit Carry in....but with reasonable discretion you shouldn't have any problems with that either, just depends on how it affects your behavior when consumed.

You don't know what your missing. 1/8th mile? count me in. I'll drive 10 hours for that.

I hear KK has a great surface. Anybody with a fast small tire car race there on here?

This is something I don't fully understand. Most engine failures happen after the 1/8 which means less down time. It's easier on parts, rounds go faster, so we can actually complete a race. And if you can dial a car for the 1/4 you should be able to do the same for the 1/8.

If you guys don't enjoy 1/8 racing its because your not going fast enough. I love 1/4 mile racing but if and when you step up your racing program you will enjoy 1/8 mile a lot more.

I prefer 1/8 mile racing after running it for a few years. I really don't like to go 130+MPH,,,105 in the 1/8 feels safer and more comfortable to me.

If you like drag racing, support your local track.

I usually prefer1/4 mile racing but I have to admit that 1/8 mile racing is more competitive. Maybe some guys are scared because its too hard for them not to have their car in high gear and judge the other car for the last 1/8th??
To each their own.

416 stroker from Nick at Compu-flow. 11.14 in full street trim. Seems like a new best every time out.

New racing surface is awesome. Plenty of small tire cars run 4.50+ in the 1/8 no issue. Mr Hines has been well into the 7's and. I believe cracked a 6 second et in the 1/4 at over 200mph. Stoping distance is short, but obviously doable.

Going to be a great event. If anyone has any questions about anything it's basically in my backyard and can help out with any questions.
