Did you happen to have a shorter cable or the one that comes with it originaly

I use a B&M Quicksilver in my 67 Satellite. Cable comes through the floor, forward above the starter, then I route it between the starter and the block. This keeps it tight to the tranny, and away from the exhaust. Exits below the starter and runs straight back to the shift arm on the tranny.

I've had it like this for years without a problem. The only time I have burned a cable was a few years back, but that happened when I tried to route the cable a different way with zip ties and such. Went back to the between the starter and block path when I replaced it.

Nope. Thats with the stock length cable that comes in the box.

After burning 3 cables I routed it over the intake.
No problems no since 3 years. Might be easier with other cars,
but that ws the only good route for my c-body with headers.

I burnt up two on my 57 truck. The second one even had the heat wrap on it. I finally went with a Lokar. The only downside to a Lokar is you don't have any "lockout" between gears.

I just went through this about a month ago though on a different application, W2 small block A body, 904. The header tubes are larger on the W2 TTis so they create some clearance issues.

The shifter comes with the 5 foot Super Duty cable and it was laying right on the number 5 tube. Went to a 4 foot regular duty cable (less sheathing material) and it worked perfectly. Nowhere near any heat. The regular duty is a little more flexible which helps with routing. A 3 foot cable would have been too short.

Like some suggested above, I tried to route it around the right side with the 5 foot but the angle of the cable where it attaches to the pan bracket was too severe and it was causing binding.

I have had a couple of PMs asking for more info on routing the cable from the rear. This is the best photo I can come up with, although I am not sure if there is enough detail.

This works real well in my Dart.
