That LUTZE's car ? ... that shoebox went 217 mph?

6.90 @ 217 to be precise, while weighing over 3600lbs. About 2 hours after the 6.90 pass, he and his wife jumped in it, untouched and drove it about 150 mile round trip to dinner, with Larson, Joe Barry and a couple other guys. We were in Texas at the time. Went from the track, across the bay to that boardwalk deal where Joe's Crab Shack is. Can't think of the name of the town right now, but sure somebody here knows.........Seabrook TX. Think that's it

Travis Quillen lives about 45 minutes from me. We have lunch about once a week and YES, he has been VERY involved with Chief's build. Should have some real stones, as Chiefs motor is pretty much a twin to the one in the Tempest

I didn't know Lutz ran 217, I thought that was Tom Bailey's Camaro. Jeff didn't even finish drag week this year, but they made him out to be the king. Nothing against him, I think his car and the evil twin are awesome, but to flat out lie like that is just uncalled for.

These episodes were shot BEFORE last years Drag Week. Before Tom Bailey shattered the marks last year, Jeff Lutz' 57 WAS the quickest and fastest ever Drag Week car. He had been 6.90 @ 217. Reason I know, I was behind him putting him in the groove on that pass. Had a good look at it. So at the time of shooting, everything they said was true. As far as being "King" of Drag Week, that was just Chiefs opinion and he is entitled to it.

Now both Larry Larsen and Jeff Lutz are friends of mine, know both well. While Larry is likely the "REAL KING" of Drag Week, people love that 57 and after Larry winning 5 years in a row, Jeff and his car are VERY popular.

Flip was a great guy and I had done some work for him.....but, he had a long history of issues. NOT alcohol, NOT drugs, but a history of problems dealing with depression and serious mood swings. Just got the better of him one day

Monte

Sorry, I stand corrected. The Drag Week stuff was shot later, because I remember me and Jeff talking about him being out there.......But.......they never said he won Drag Week, or was even the fastest. It did say he had been 6.90s at 217, which was true and Chief proclaimed him "King" of Drag Week, which may be true in Chief's opinion. So they didn't lie or mislead about anything. Also, the only real Drag Week cars there were Lutz and Fink. I have never seen that Chevelle nor the Bubble top before. Other Drag Week cars were supposed to be there, but they made a last minute schedule change and many couldn't make it.

Monte

Besides the silly sound effects, the only real problems I have are:

Chief constantly called the Oklahoma cars "Street Cars" (which they are NOT)

The Dragweek cars ARE "Street Cars" and prove it yearly..

Funny that Lutz drove his car there while all those "Oklahoma Street Cars" were trailer queens.. lol..

I think Murderer Nova tried Dragweek once and made it a whole 50 miles..

Anyway, the fastest "Street Cars" are at Dragweek..

Larry Larson, Jeff Lutz, Tom Bailey, Shawn Fink and the Texas Pro Mod "Street Car" from Texas.. (can't remember his name)

The "Street Outlaws" should actually try Dragweek (and survive) if they want to call themselves the "fastest"

Also, The Farmtruck and Aisain are what the general public don't like about "Street Racing"..

They are a bit too old to act like immature teenagers..

They do stupid stuff that makes the program look bad.

Chris..

I hear what you`re saying but if I remember right Chief said something along the lines of the 405 boys have some of the fastest "street driven" race cars in the country............or, I dreamed it...............

Where abouts did you see that and did Jr himself post it?
I'd love to see it happen but I doubt it would be much quicker than Dominator with the dart. I think even that is a gamble.

It was in one of the 500 Street Outlaws threads. Yes, I believe it was Jr. hisself.

Might have been in the thread that Elvis called out Daddy Dave and then spent 20 pages backpedalling.

Ya think? You mean signing all the waivers to be on tv didn't give it away to the guy getting "fished". Your telling me if you were at a gas station and a couple guys asked you to race and had a whole production crew filming it won't set off this isn't what it looks like. Man I glad Santa doesn't have to hear these things.

Ya THINK ? .... .... and those waivers ? ... how-the-fugg could the DSC channel have someone sign away their "rights" on breaking the law ??... and pay-attention to those "races". It looks like they are barely moving -maybe at the speed limit or so .... SOITENLY not what those vehicles are capable of really running.

Me ...OVER IT ? ... never was IN IT as far as believing it was really REAL. A known illegal act ? .... then EVERYTHING about the show is phony Xcept the final "street races" that are done at some well-lit track.

Doc do you even watch the show? Its really pretty easy to figure out and if not there's plenty of good info about the show if you weed thru the BS. It is what it is. I'd rather watch this than a show about getting married, being stuck on an island with a bunch of cut-throats, making moonshine, making duck calls, or any other TRASH that's on TV now. Relax Doc and take the good with the bad. When the farm truck comes on or a part of the show I don't like I log on to Moparts.

Yes "know illegal act", street racing is illegal. If I say on camera let's race on this street and you film it you are a aaccesorey to the crime. They (outlaws)used to do all this stuff illegally all the time. There is all sorts of video of it all over internet. Now it must be done legally because of the camera. So if your not "in it" why you always in this post flapin away?
