Whew such friendly people on here..
My car is 3300 miles away.. I am flying there for 3 days and while I want to get my car running, I didn't want to spend ALL of it working on my car, most of my tools are here in Florida with me, so just asking for some friendly advice or if anyone has had any experience with this.
383 totally different animal than a 440 sizewize.. Stock exhaust the same, very different... Yes I know about the wet exhaust studs..
$600 dollar washer?? Appreciate your comments. bet you are invited to alot of partys..
Seriously ????
You asked and you got multiple ways to skin this cat, what's so unfriendly about that ???
good luck and have fun

Just loosen the manifold, cut a notch out on the bottom of the gasket bolt holes. Slide it in and tighten. Done! Especially since you are limited in time.
You must not have read my previous response.. Already tried this and it got worse.. Unstartable even... A chunk of gasket must be on it still and I cannot get the manifold far enough out to see or scrape it.
Was just going to let this slide but since you just got all huffy after many here tried to offer you help....... No where in your previous responses did you say you had some of the old gasket still on the car nor did you say you already tried a new gasket and it got worse. So good luck is all I have to say.
Thanks for the help....

Was this directed to me? Who has a 383? I'm actually confused.

Yes, removing the studs will allow you to simple pull the manifold up and out of the car.
Seems as if most of the studs came out, but I will try this when I get to the car again... TY
Hmmmm, missed this. Did you remove the spark plugs?

As I recall I cannot get the outlet area of the exhaust manifold between the engine/transmission/firewall/steering column due to the size/clocking of it.. Maybe if I take out the plugs, studs I can go backwards ( pull it out towards the back of the car instead of pulling it forward)... Appreciate all of the ideas here..
