before you spend a lot of money on a new mini starter, use a rebuilt, just use this application, 1991 Dodge Ram pick up with a 5.9 engine.
Thanks, but I have a pile of them. From the older Mitsu to the newer Denso. I dont care for them. I have a Denso on my Cuda simply because its 11.2:1 and headers, but on everything else, I want it to sound like its supposed to. I can agree with startling people with the sound the old fish makes when it fires up! Gotta love it!

Funny how guys don't like the starter sound but will hack their exhaust. I've met a few of those.
Funny...I dont have to hack the exhaust on my Barracuda to use either the big starter or the mini. Small block, headers, and a 4-speed...cluttered with clutch linkage! Have a nice day!
Mine fits the big also, but I don't have any heat problems, and I bet I can change my mini a whole lot faster. Hm what starter is on the new hemis?

I like the mini starter because it doesn't take 2 hours to put in like the huge original one.
still took me two hours, more like 3. had to lift the engine an inch or so and drop the header.
sigh...

Well truth be told as an old school guy it took me a long time to cross the line and stop using the old world starter, but I must say the new mini starter (which I now use) does take less amps and is a better starter, especially when used with a trunk mounted battery. If you are interested in one, before you spend a lot of money on a new mini starter, use a rebuilt, just use this application, 1991 Dodge Ram pick up ith a 5.9 engine.
Why use a Rebuilt when A new From Mopar is Cheaper.

Well, here's something else to consider. I use the mini starter on my '65 - 440/12.5:1 with MSD. The engine starts so quick you don't hear the starter anyway. Modern engines with good ignitions don't crank for 30 seconds before starting . Even the old starters won't make that sound if the engine starts instantly. Maybe some purists who still run original ignition systems with point distributors may enjoy the sound of the old-style starters that crank a long time before starting.
Modern engines start instantly because they are fuel injected.
