Doug is out of the hospital and after getting his meds adjusted had a very good day today. He was having some blood pressure issues(very low) with the meds and dosage they had him on but they adjusted yesterday and he feels a lot better. He has been back to work on a limited basis since last Friday. What he suffered from was "sudden death ventricular fibrillation. It has a fatality rate of over 90%. He was a very lucky man to have competent help so close by. We are still contemplating SCSN. He will make the call next week.

That`s great new for sure Bob.............now I have ANOTHER hero....

Doug wins with a fraction of the budget of some of our competitors. It's quite amazing really.

We hurt the motor in Md and were going to freshen it for SCSN. We were going to test converters in Bakersfield the weekend that Doug had his heart attack so no test. After the test we were going to put new pistons rods, rings and bearings. We were pretty sure that we were not going to be racing in Vegas so the motor did not get touched. Doug woke up on Monday morning and said let's go racing. We danced with the girl we brought but it was down about 500 horsepower so it wouldn't pull high gear. We never made a run over 219. We almost didn't stay for the elims but at number 6 qualified we decided to give it a go and made some bandaids. We ran as quick as 6.46 when we beat Mike Murillo in round 3 but got a little greedy in the semi's where the tires spun at the hit then shook hard, then went into a big wheelie. Doug had to lift as the car was wheelying toward the wall. He got back into it but we fell a little short. Our 6.60 lost to Ken Sihota's 6.48 even though Doug had a half tenth on the tree(Doug's .030 to Sihota's .088). We drained a full puke tank after every pass, wiped oil off much of the engine and the hemi's tongue was hanging to the ground by the time we left Vegas. In the semi's Ken Sihota had run as quickly as 6.26 in qualifying so we thought that we needed to get more out of the first 660' in order to be competitive but it turned out that just duplicating the previous round's 6.46 would have been more than enough. That's racing. In a sense we beat ourselves but the weekend was a constant struggle to find speed and ET that just wasn't available to us with the sick engine. Doug was absolutely incredible BTW. No surprise to me or anyone who knows him.

Besides getting the motor fresh and sound we need about another 200 HP to keep up with the fast turbo cars. We are working on that now. We are confident that we'll be doing some paying back next season.

Nice job regardless. As long as he didnt run 6.66666....lol...sounds more like a 7.77 would have been fine....I'd be happy with just making it there.
