you can use the 130 tooth V-6 flywheel/clutch on a 318-5.2 or a 130 tooth 360 external balance flywheel.

I think you mean 143 tooth...

at least the OBD-II EFI trucks are using a 143 tooth flywheel, be it a 3.9L V6 in a Dakota or a 5.9L V8 in a Ram 2500

I will re-count my 88-v-6 flywheel, but IIRC I got the 130 tooth count, and it is drilled for both clutch/PP size.

good to know the BB uses that pilot bearing, I am working on a hydro clutch system with Lakewood Bell/fly for my 440 truck.

You are correct, I used one when I converted my 87 Diplomat over to A833, it's 130 tooth.

so the 98 Dakota 3.9 v6 may not be the nv3500?
the truck is not that close to me and I have to drive a couple hours to get it. so I need to learn as much as I can before I decide to get it or not.
I know the 4500 would be stronger but I cant find one very cheap. I can get this Dakota trans with the clutch flywheel driveshaft and hydraulic stuff to work it from the Dakota for $200 if I pull it out my self. but I didn't know there was a possibility of it having a transmission other than the 3500

I will wager it is a AX-15 on a v-6

ifin it was a 5.2 or 5.9 i would wager it being a 3500

are those carbureated? or OBD-I EFI? does it have the notches on the back side for the crank position sensor?

the 1998 Dakota flywheels are 143 tooth and will not fit into an aftermarket bell like a quicktime when doing a trans swap to a non-original transmission such as a TKO or T56

It's an 88 V6, what does that tell you? (hint TBI)

It has the NP2500/A535 trans.

I saw the year, but I don't know when every vehicle/model line went from carb to EFI. I had an 84 Buick sedan that was TBI, but my sister had an 86 Chevy sedan that was a carb, so even from the same manufacture there is no clear set year when everything went from carbs to EFI.

Anyway, that's interesting that they have a 130 tooth flywheel were the transmissions also using 10.5" clutches? Will they fit inside the smaller Lakewood/QuickTime bell housings? Do they have the notches for a crank position sensor?

May be a cheap option for guys doing trans swaps to TKOs and T56s

10.5" clutch, yes

The rest, I do not know. I used an A body bellhousing, not an aftermarket. As for crank sensor, I doubt it since it didn't look any different than any other flywheel I ever used and I believe the TBI setup used a signal from the distributor, not a CPS.

I re-counted mine and it has 143 teeth.

drilled for both clutch sizes.

no notches any where on it.

3 spots from a drill for balance on backside.

I must have assumed it was 130 tooth with it having the small clutch disc on a v-6

come to think of it I have never had anything with less than 143 teeth and was thinking this was the first with it a 88-v-6 with the a535 trans.

OK, so I'm looking at the A535 3.9L bellhousing from the early Dakota and wondering how hard it would be to drill it for a Ford T5? Doesn't look that hard.
