I have a question. Who's black pro stock duster was that that went on it's roof in columbus in the mid 70's right off the starting line? It was what they use to call the spring nats. and it was during qualifing I believe. Thanks Jake

I think it would be cool to see a couple of cars that may look somewhat the part and run the same e.t.'s as you guys just to maybe make a three or so round race out of it. What would you guys think of something like that?
I think it would be GREAT. The real problem is not finding the cars, Marco has several, Todd Werner has LOTS...The BIG HUGE problem is finding anyone else that is CRAZY ENOUGH .. To actually launch and run them at full speed down the track. But maybe , just maybe there is someone else out there who has lost his mind like Fred and I have.

While I think it's really cool the Sox and Matin Duster and Missle Duster are out racing, and putting on a show, the cars are far from period correct... Sox and Carlton never ran with powerglides...
I agree. So let say we are 90% correct..

Ronnie Sox's Omni match race car had a 'glide, Ask Reed.
Also, Considering the way alot of those cars were built and how they handled, A 'glide is like a gift from God today.

the P/G is there to soften hits on my 35 year old car. plus it's only only part of the picture. these are the real high dollar cars not tributes or clones. The engine, trans, driver's door ,fuel cell and calipers ( same Rotors )are the only items I have changed. The rest as it rolled out the door at S&M. I think overall my car that still uses the same wheels, shocks, radiator and those that actually came on the car is very era correct.
Mike Fons was AMAZED (July 2007) at how much of the Missile was just as he had left it. Fuel Cell, Front Wheels, and few other small items. But basically is still just like it set in 1974-1976. Block is long gone, but still have same heads ect..

"Ronnie Sox's Omni match race car had a 'glide, Ask Reed."
According to Chick Deninno who built & maitained the Omni, S&M was one of the first if not the First to test a PG in PS competition - Back then, internals were not what they are today so the trans did not have a long "life" and thus S&M went back to the Lenco. I restored the Omni to that time frame because it is "period correct" for the car and had a PG in it already. Tho' the Omni has a FC cage in it with some minor updates, it has a number of the original pieces still in the car including Mag Dana, dash, doors, wheels etc - Still has the Hardy Tag on the dash, too. Personally, I have no problem with running a PG in "old" PS-style Circuit - hard enough to get cars out there, let the guys have "less" maintenance problems and breakage. Pic is from when we tested the car with a 440 eng before restoration. Thanks, Reed in Neb.
