I watch Ebay for things people run into for these engines. The core plug kits are expensive and can be hard to find if you don't know who has them. I just bought a few as I was missing a couple plugs in a block. I will have a kit that is not complete now. I also bought a broken motor plate cheap. These are handy as you can cut all the extra off of it and use it for a belt drive plate. The EEI aluminum blocks have side mounts on them for the dirt cars. So a plate like this could be used.

If anybody gets in a jam and needs either of these just let me know. I'm sure no one wants to buy a $100 kit to replace a missing $10 plug.

I have gotten several calls about flywheels and adapters. Was told my name was given on Moparts as the R5 guru. Not hardly. The problem I see is everyone is trying to do this a different way. Arrington made adapters much cheaper than the ones on Ebay. But, he uses the NASCAR starter and flywheel. There is no easy way to drive a torque converter with this according to what I hear.

I plan to try a different approach this year. My chassis is just not long enough from radiater to drive shaft loop for the adapter. Don't want to rebuild car to accommodate the adapter. Going to go to a Reid bell and a custom flywheel. I will not know until I get the bell what I can do on the flywheel. I may just remake the adapter for the JW wheel. Currently I have Bobsprofab crank adapter and the JW adapter. No issues but, I think I can do this in one piece. If anyone wants to do the same deal it would be much easier if I did a few of these at once. So please PM me if you are interested. I probably can't quote a price. But, it will be at cost. No reason to try and make money at this stage.

M&M has intakes for these. They have a huge single plane with a very large plenum. They also have the tunnel ram. Bob Leath tried it but it didn't do well. I hear on larger engines it is the bomb. We will just have to wait and see.

I had a mate of mine make me a adaptor to fit my glide to my R5 block. He also made my crank adaptor for a jw flex plate. And it uses a sb mopar starter. I'll get some pics up in a couple days as I'm only on my phone and don't know how to upload pics.

That cad drawing was the first drawing. As you can see the final outcome was a little refined. It takes a JW sb mopar flexplate. And standard sb mopar starter. Then just use spacers for a standard configuration chevy convertor. I'll upload some better pics on the weekend when I'm on my laptop.

I'll be changing out my glide for an A1 transmissions pro350 in the future. I just had the glide laying around. I'm hoping to have my car weigh 2500lbs race ready with me in it. Moser 8-3/4 diff, gun drilled and star flanged axles, aluminium centre. Strange ss front struts with spindle mounts. 235 radial tyre. What's the best time you've run Leon with the 358? At what weight, rear gear, tyre, and trans? I was also looking at doing a tall deck in the future. It seems the EEI page is down for maintenance. I'd like to read up on the blocks a little more. Thought about what you were doing after posting. Looks like someone did a really nice job with the adapter to GM bell.

I ran 5.82@118 in the eighth mile. Shut off early and did not get quarter mile ET's. Powerglide tranny with a 6.17 rear gear and a 31" rear tire. The car weighed just under 3,000 with this engine. I posted the info on the first page of this thread. But, I think these numbers are extremely close.

You should get your friend to do more of these adapters for the GM it is the nicest, in the picture I have seen yet.

If anyone is interested i can have more of these kits made. This one cost me $1000aus as it is the first one. I'm sure they would be cheaper now as all the drawing is done. I looked at all the options with other peoples kits and wasn't happy with any of them quality wise for the price. This one is a real nice piece. The trans adaptor is made from 7075 T6, and the crank adaptor is made from 4340 from memory. I supplied the flexplate and spun up my own convertor spacers.

I have a quick question for you Leon. What lash did you set your rockers at? I have been told 4 thou. My engine has a solid roller. And also what weight oil did you use?
