do any 5.7 hemi's have a forged crank? i want to build a budget turbo engine. looking at a JY engine 5.7 or 6.1 but man they are proud of those 6.1L what would my best options be.. remember cheap! and boost, so the perfect flowing head is not all that important. thanks fellows ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

All 6.1's have forged cranks, as do 6.4's. All rods and pistons are too weak for moderate levels of boost. Pre '09 blocks are preferred ( no VVT) '09 and later 5.7 heads are a great economical choice. Blocks are good for 1000+ hp according to the magazines. Stock 6.1 cam is a great turbo cam

I like the hemi in the pic, what's the plan with that?

We have a 5.7 hemi core down at the shop, and if I could package that in an A-body with a turbo and go bracket racing I would highly consider it...Our car has a 512 in it now running 10.1..Pleas post pics of the completed set-up.

That is a 90mm Chinese E-bay special! The intercooler is an E-bay piece too. 120 lb/hr injectors, MegaSquirt 3 controlling the fuel and spark. Powerglide with 4000 stall 9.5 inch converter.

Link? I'm interested in that adapter plate.

Tough to tell, but it looks like you stuck the big turbo off to the lower passenger side...
If I were to do one, I would also go with a single as you did, but I would put it front & center and split the radiator into two halves with each half in the front of the fender well on each side. Its a drag car and no inner fenders similar to yours. Where did you get the engine plate?
I would not be using an intercooler as you did and instead would just use Meth injection to keep it simple for racing. Same with the induction on my end as I would start with a blow thru carb and transition to MFI.
I like what you have, curious what the Hp goal and potential are?
What Ci is the engine? Which heads?

I financed the whole project with the sale of my old engine and trans, so I had to keep it simple, ie: no dual radiators. I thought of meth injection, but for simplicity you cant beat an intercooler.....no moving parts! The motor plate is from www.aeicnc.com. It allows you to use a BBC water pump, which is about 1/3 the price of a Hemi one. I have Eagle heads that I ported myself with a .020 over 5.7 As for performance goals....after all this work if its not faster than the 512....my wife will prob. kill me!!!

I doubt any manifold would fit. It's a tight fit. I made the headers. I bought a set of shorty headers for a 5.7 Charger.......not even close! So I cut off the flanges and ordered a header kit for a SBC. I probably can make another set with the amount of tubing left over. It was a challenge, but they turned out pretty good.
