I have one of their bolt on fiberglass trunk lids on my Dart I even have the stock lock in it. Really nice piece you can`t even tell its a glass trunk lid by looking at it.

GOOD stuff ? ... I don't think many people have complained about the quality .... but the WEIGHT and the PRICE .... well I will let people who have had that direct experience take-it-from-here .....
Heavy.........sure is . The AAR bolt on 6 pack hood on my Dart is over 31 lbs lighter than the factory flat steel hood it replaced. Customer service? Not good. Pricey? You get what you pay for when it comes to quality. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Twocents.gif)

I have an AAR lift off hood I bought from him at the Indy swap meet in like 1998. I think I gave him 200 for it then about 5 years later bought the scoop. Even being race weight, the hood is excellent quality. I wouldnt hesitate to buy again.

I bought the LAST hood for my Rampage from them.. its a nice piece... it was originally a 2" scoop and I wanted 4" so he cut it and added 2".. turned out very nice... I I would have had the time I would have made a mold and did it in carbon fiber but time is short for me.... it took a little work to make it perfect but the size was right on to fit the hole it goes in.. it measured dead on to my stock hood.... it was a pin on hood but I glassed in mounting points so now its a bolt on that can slip off in a matter of 2 minutes... I can still pull the engine and trans as a assembly with the hood on ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

Good quality compared to the other junk out there...only complaint with my hood was the entire thing had a bow to it....sits ~3/4" higher in the center when the front/rear are even with the fenders. but all I did was scuff it and shoot it...paid ~$350 for a bolt on 6-pack hood back in the early 2000's

Originally I wanted to get a hood from aar but sounded like a long wait and I was too cheap to spend that much on a 7k dollar build ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh2.gif) I was definitely impressed with the stuff aar had on display a few years back when I last checked the stuff out. I used a Unlimited(up22) ta style hood scoop on a steel hood. It was the only place I could find who sold them. I do a lot of body work and it was as good as a glass piece I've ever worked with. My biggest issue with fiberglass places has been the wait and lies they feed you of why it takes so long to make a hood. Luckily I haven't had an issue with anywhere like that in years.

Good quality..LOL...
...ALL that is ...is where the mold is split so they can get the part out of the mold. Now for the kind of money they get for the part ... that "seam" should have been body-finished.

Bump cause I weighed the hood...
Just curious ....why did you go with a bolt-on hood ? .... and was one of the reasons why you went with a FG hood ...to save weight?

Is that some kind of bait? Of course it was to save weight. How much does the stock metal 66 Coronet hood weigh?

Mr Quackster ... no bait .... I am not that typea' guy .. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif)
BUTTTT if it was to save weight .. then why did you get a bolt-on hood ? .... A stock metal hood ?.... 50 lbs - a savings of maybe 25 lbs or so. But a lift-off hood would have saved another 10 or so ...and been cheaper to buy ...and the car would have been EZier to work on.

I bought a pin on hood for the Rampage but I turned it into a bolt on and its working great.. no springs so I use a prop rod to hold it open.. I have the prop rod on a heim joint on the one end and the other end I put a rubber cap on it.. I also put a hole in the reinforced area in the front for the prop rod to fit into so it doesnt slip and have the hood crash down... the rod itself is 3.8 stainless tubing that I polished on my buffer.... I didnt even have to pull the hood when I pulled the engine and trans ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)
