Just curious ....why did you go with a bolt-on hood ? .... and was one of the reasons why you went with a FG hood ...to save weight?

Is that some kind of bait? Of course it was to save weight. How much does the stock metal 66 Coronet hood weigh?

Mr Quackster ... no bait .... I am not that typea' guy ..

BUTTTT if it was to save weight .. then why did you get a bolt-on hood ? .... A stock metal hood ?.... 50 lbs - a savings of maybe 25 lbs or so. But a lift-off hood would have saved another 10 or so ...and been cheaper to buy ...and the car would have been EZier to work on.

A lift off would have been a lot more work to install properly. 10 lbs is not worth that much work to me with my current work load. I have to build cars for others to pay for parts for my car and I'm getting too old and sore to build cars anymore. Time is not on my side and I don't have a lot to go around.

We'll see about the stock steel hood and spring weight as I'll weigh them when they come off. If it's only 50lbs my hats off to you but I think you're off by at least 25%

Quacky ..... how do you see the hood being a lot more work installing it as a liftoff ? And you didn't say anything about the springs before ... but there is another consideration ... the weight of those springs and the hinges.

I bought a pin on hood for the Rampage but I turned
it into a bolt on and its working great.. no springs
so I use a prop rod to hold it open.. I have the
prop rod on a heim joint on the one end and the other
end I put a rubber cap on it.. I also put a hole in
the reinforced area in the front for the prop rod to
fit into so it doesnt slip and have the hood crash
down... the rod itself is 3.8 stainless tubing that
I polished on my buffer.... I didnt even have to
pull the hood when I pulled the engine and trans
