glad to hear you have a solid lead on it... sounds like you may be headed the right way! thought the basics were covered... just goes to show fundamentals first!!

Yeah, who knew it would take 3-ignition boxes.
There was no clue :easy starting ,good fuel economy, smooth cruise, plugs clean,etc...

The Chrome box is off the racecar and it ran fine too. No change in performance with MSD on it.

Have`nt driven it yet so I`m not betting the far

Didn`t see it asked but what`s your fuel system consist of?

You might want to get a MSD 6AL BTM(blower timing module, it will retard the timing with boost ) and once you know the ignition is good test the fuel volume by jetting the carb back up enough to slow the MPH down in the 1/4, if it ever quits raining back there If you can't fatten the mixture up enough to slow the cars MPH down in the 1/4 mile then you probally need a better fuel delivery system

Sorry but I don`t think this concludes a very good fuel system at all especialy w/boost. Just because it`s a solid 5-6 lbs. doesn`t mean the volume is there...............I`d get a real pump w/at least 1/2 line myself............

Well ran both cars tonight.
Anyway back to the drawing board.
3" exhaust and MSD ignition ran 12.18 @ 108 and 12.16 @108.
AFR 12.2 both runs.
It is however very consistent.
So it goes

Have`nt changed the right thing yet.
Not spending anymore money to take the dog out for ice cream LOL
Thanks for all the ideas and shared knowledge

Get a fuel system that will support your needs and then you`ll probably start over in the tuning dept.

Checked a couple at random:
112/115 @1.83
296/298 @ .500
Seat right on for cam,10lbs light at max lift.
So thats not THE issue.
Maybe if it could`nt reach max RPM for the cam
6,200. I`m done at 4,500.
I`m leaning towards too much cam and or not enough gear.
Can`t move/accelerate that weight-drag at that RPM and time given.

Well back from the lake, soooooooo I did some testing and found that the mechanical pump all by its self would provide 5-6lbs but would fall to 4lbs at speed.
Next the Holley Blue pump by its self. Rev the engine and it would lose pressure. Went to "O" just driving up a hill.
So the electric was holding back the mech. JUNK
Even tho it had fuel pressure thru the traps.
Cool,,,, a REAL problem to fix.
Installed a 5/8ths line in the bottom of the tank and put a Mallory pump back there with its own line to the carb.
Have a second line feeding the mech. pump to the carb.
Have 2 pumps with separate lines running at the same time.
Now have 8lbs. ALL the time

Took it to Norwalk tonight off the trailer went 12.54 @ 110.10= same mph--slower ET
Jetted up--- 12.34@ 104.34 60ft was better less mph.
Jetted down =12.59 @ 102.68.
So it finally responds to jetting changes, but makes no more power than before.
So I figure except for "mine-shaft" weather this is all it has in it without better heads and or more gear/or converter.
Too heavy,not enough leverage,,,3.33ratio.
I`m thinking maybe 3.73`s and more compression.
At 8.69cr now.

Why r u running an electric pump through a mechanical? You need a REAL fuel system.........period so I`m done for now and will await you new bests when you step up.

Don`t be offended that your solution didn`t fix it,,,,,none of my ideas or cash has done squat either

I`m not running the electric thru the mechanical.
2-lines to 1 fuel log.
The mechanical returns thru the electric when driving, so there is constant flow E.I. no vapor/heat issues.
When the electric is on they are feeding different ends of the fuel log.
So if I want to go faster I`m going have to change something besides accessories

I`m not offended and as a few have said in the past when I was throwin money in the wind, (get the BEST fuel system you can afford)..........those words have stuck and proven to be true for me and many others. You have a blown big block running WAY slower than it should need I say more.............

Well I got a false goal right out of the box.
Ran 12.22@111 spinning in August heat at the Mopar Nationals in 2010.
That was with a just get it to run and drive tune. Well turnsout that was as good as it gets.
Those blowers are advertised as 120-bolt on HorsePower.
And it is.
Figure with a 750 and a good intake sorted out here in Ohio it would run 13.30`s maybe some "O"s in perfect weather, get about 3 of those a year.
After all stock iron heads 8.69cr. stock converter 3.33gears and 4,000+lbs?
Add 120HP to a 13.30 car = 12.10ish,,,so actually when it ran the 11.95 a month ago on a cold night in Norwalk that was the all she has.
Had to try all I could.
So if I want more power I need a 12.80 car PLUS the blower
