DOT 5 does not absorb h20, , and I suspect one of the initial purposes of the gylcol based fluids was to prevent water from collecting in concentration in the maybe low points in the lines, and eventually weakening/rusting thru, or remaining in the brake wheel cylinder and then causing corrosion with complete brake loss. I also suspect with dual circuit brake systems and better caliper/cylinder design, this has reduced this potential, allowing the current use DOT 5 in "daily drivers", and all its advantages, whether driven irregularly or not.


Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
