I have a 528 hemi with two edelbrock 600s on it and the motor dynoed at 700 hp. What size fuel pump would you reccomend for this. The car will be mainly street driven with a few trips to the track. I will be running a mechanical pump and prefer to not run a regulator unless I have to. Will 110 gph be enough?

I don't know much about the mechanical fuel pumps of today. But many years ago when I made 500 hp I had to get an electric pump.
I currently have a 528 hemi that makes over 800 hp I run a Aeromotive electric fuel pump with 10 an fuel line.

This Carter pump should do you http://www.summitracing.com/parts/crt-p4600hp/overview/
With that much horsepower though you may end up dumping a stock type mechanical for an all external set up or one of the high flow piston type pumps

I run the Carter race mechanical pump on my 472 but you have to use a regulator. It doesn't run out of fuel on extended high gear bursts. I would recommend an electric pump though if you let the car sit for any length of time. Those AFB style carbs evaporate gas in a short while and they take a while to prime and start.

73cuda. I didn't realize you had an aluminum motor. That is an expensive motor. I wouldn't risk damaging it by running an inferior fuel system.
I agree with Dragula. Some on this site get away with running marginal equipment but for most marginal will only end up giving you a head ache and cost you money down the road.
You need to go to a pump like I posted earlier with a regulator and fuel pressure gauge. Run a 10 an feed line and a 8 an return. I come out of the regulator with two 6 an lines to the Dominator carb. This will be a trouble free system on the street and capable of doing the job at the drag strip.

Most everybody is going to give you the same recommendation. Dual 500 gpm fuel pumps with -16 lines. All this get-a-big-fuel-pump crap started 25 years ago when the $400 Barry Grant fuel pump became a status symbol. The guy was a marketing genius. He made people with $500 cars want a $400 fuel pump. Wide open your car will burn around 40 gph. 110 gph should be enough. Carter makes a mechanical pump just like you want that doesn't use a regulator. I would give that a try.

The Saturn V rocket that took men to the moon had high fuel flow for liftoff. The first stage had 5 engines. Each engine had a 55,000 horsepower fuel pump. That's your fuel pump trivia for the day.

If you`re stuck on a mechanical(which I wouldn`t do)then a regulator is probably a must being that a pump big enuff will need high pressure to begin with...........

8psi before the regulator for every g of launch
A 60 foot of 1.60 puts out 1.4 g's
1.50=1.66
1.40=1.9
I read these numbers in a mag that some guy that they called the professer,I believe his first name was Warren.

mancini has a mechanical pump that is calibrated for high flow at the pressure the carter/edelbock carbs need. that is what i run on mine, 540 dyno'd at 712 hp.

That's pretty good for a mechanical pump. Whats your best ET in the quarter? What kind of 60 ft times are you getting?

haven't got that far yet. the engine is in, just got the subframe connectors on last week. lots of little tweaking and some other issues to work out. i'm hoping to get it to the strip this summer, but being 80 miles away puts a small damper on things.

I agree with rickseeman about the carter mech. pump. Just add a holly blue pump at the tank with a momentary switch on the throttle cable to turn on at wide open. Don't think you will need a reg. I had a 800+ hp indy engine that had a 2 gallon fuel cell in the front, used a holly blue and by pass reg. to feed an 1150 dom. never had a problem feeding it. went low fives 125 mph. never went to the quarter but my buddy had same combo in a Omni went 8.40s 160. If tanks in the back you need a big pump just to push fuel forward on acceleration. Use the smallish line you can and still feed. No b.s.
