I drove the Ol Allstate to a buddy's shop for him to align the front end. It was the first time the car has been driven since 1981 and it was fun for sure.
Here is some video.

Do you think you will have the car at the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green. It would be great to see it there.

Maybe, It really depends how things go at Ohio Valley this weekend. I am not registered for BG. and usually it is too hot for me. But I would love to go, and be there with like minded people.

Thanks,
Mark

Driving out of the Shop for the first time. Testing the brakes before going for a short ride.

Very shaky at first.

Thanks Jim,
If we can get the bugs out, and the trailer ready, then we will make some test runs Saturday. Now they are calling for rain!? I will ignore that and we will push forward. I have help coming today.

Hey Eric,
I have a few things to finish. Door panels for one, and some bugs to get out, But it sure is nice to be able to start it and go!
I am using the Car Chemistry baffles inside the headers. A lot of guys on Moparts don't like them, but I didn't read that until after I had designed my system around them. If they are a problem for the cars performance I will simply take them out.

Thanks for the encouragement along the way.

Thanks Lee, we are getting closer to ironing out the bugs.
I appreciate it Jeff.
Arno, your day for your first ride in that fine coupe is getting closer. I tell you it is a great feeling, for you to look forward too.
We worked on the car again today. The line lock is not working. Fixed the push off kill switch, and will be moving a brake line. Also trying get my trailer ready to go to a local reunion race this Saturday. 1/8th mile.

Thanks Guys,
Mark

MARK, congrats on the killer J do i miss it you ask ?? a little over 28 years ago i pulled that cuda out of a cotton field in mississippi, as a rust free shell, it went thru a few changes over the years, till i finally had the cash to turn it in to the pro street machine i always wanted as a kid, if my work schedule was more off tiem friendly, ide of kept it im sure,,and made a few more changes,,probably turned it in to a more of a pro touring type car,, as i sell off the tons of extra parts ive collected over the years, i start to realize that its gone,,,,thanks for asking enjoy your J

Thanks David,
We have the kill switch working now, and I have a new line lock coming tomorrow to replace the Summit unit that doesn't work. I won't have time to have it "scaled" before we go, so I will have to feel it out on the first couple passes. That will be Saturday if the weather permits.
Thanks,
Mark

28 years is a long time with a car. I had another car for 22 or 23 years and did a complete top to bottom rebuild on it...... I miss it!!!

Thanks Paul,
It seems to be ready, from what I can tell on the few short drives I have made.

Richard,
The Ohio Valley Reunion, was rained out. As it turned out, that was probably a good thing for the Hemi Allstate. There were a few things that just were not "right" and could have caused some damage to the car. The event will not be run this year. I am hoping to get out for a TNT pretty soon. Need to be sure my trailer and tow vehicle are ready as well. I think we are very close.

Not really Eric.
The last pass was in 1981 1/8th was a 6.43 @ 108 and 1/4 was a 10.43 @ 129 (too much gear).
It really is a different car now. I don't know what it weighs, or how much HP the engine makes.
If the car weighs in @ 2600 lbs. with me in it, and the engine will make 750 hp, then it should be much quicker than before!
It used to weigh 2490 lbs. less driver, with a cast iron BBC. It had leaf springs on front and rear, drum brakes, narrowed OLDS rear, plexi windows, huge ladder bars, and a three point roll bar. I think these are the major differences. The new engine is supposed to be just over 500 lbs., QA1 coil overs, Wilwood disc brakes, glass windows, ladder bars, and complete cage.
Indy rates their 572 @ 770 HP. Mine is very similar in specs, but I think I have a better set of heads. (Stage V CNC @ MCH )
So, would you care to guess? LOL I weigh 182 lbs.

well, i think i will lock in my numbers. [remember the show 'pass time'?]......
i would think you should have no trouble going an easy 9.88 or so with a cautious tune and taking it easy on the first few passes. just a W.A.G. from a guy that is dummer than a bag o hammers....
but you will be faster than me 'cause i weigh 20lbs more than you ! good luck and keep us up to date !

Eric,
I had the car NHRA certified for 8.50 and slower. While he was looking at the car I had him do a tech inspection, as if we were at the track. I fixed a couple small items he said needed to be done. So that is out of the way. I need a check mark smiley.
A lot of rain around here lately.
I need another test drive on the street to check out some of the adjustments I have made. The wheelie bars would have hit the rear roll pan the way things were, if the car went into a wheelie. I raised the rear of the car and adjusted the shocks, on all four corners.

Yes I have Eric,
I tried to estimate the HP conservatively @ 750. I think it may have a little more in it with a good tune, and maybe a bigger carb. The weight should be around 2,600 lbs. , but could actually be less.
So, 750 HP @ 2600 lbs. on the Morosso slide is : 8.70 @ 156 mph. Hmmmmm....... Lets try 700 HP @ 2700 lbs. : Still 9.0 @ 150 mph.

I may want to stay on the 1/8th mile!

Hey Larry,
I am sure that your car is far more street-able/ useful than the Allstate. The aluminum engine makes a lot of condensation. Another issue to deal with.
Anyway, it sure feels good to have you and these other members cheering me on to my first pass. I hope I do not disappoint you guys.
I will certainly try my best. I hope to have someone making a video.
Thanks,
Mark
