While out at the Spring Fling show, I picked up a '71 GTX that is coded J68 for rear window louvers on the broadcast sheet and fender tag, but they are not listed on the window sticker (original). The car was built in Los Angeles. I didn't notice any holes drilled into the roof or Dutchman panel, but I'll go over it better when it arrives here in NY. I'm wondering if they weren't put on, or if the car was mis-coded? The fellow that I bought it from had no idea that it was coded for them.

Around 30 came with louvers, making it a rare one...

You get the paint off the roof, you'll know...

Welcome to an exclusive club.I have a J68 Road Runner.Ck the vin numbers against the numbers in the different locations around the car.Just to make sure its what it says it is.There are only four holes that mount the louvers, two on each side..Look in the trunk. Those louvers are $1,500 and only one person makes them, when you can get them.If you want to call me I might be able to help you figure it out.PM me.

In the most basic sense, why/how would any option be listed on the build sheet and fender tag BUT NOT on the original window sticker.

And this option is very uncommon and they obviously installed very few of them on the assembly lines.

And then you have an assembly plant that built the least proportion of 71 Plymouth B-bodies.

Nice score, what color is it?

I'll have to look through my database this evening to see if I have any other LA built louver cars. It's possible LA didn't code that on the tag (although I would be surprised if they didn't).

It is GW3 Sno White. All of the body #'s match (no rebody). The car was painted blue years ago, by the original owner, the fellow I just bough it from went with a mad max all blackout theme I should have it here in 10 days or so, then I can dig deeper and see if there are holes.

Sharp car when new, white with black interior and stripe, 15x7 ralleys (all four are original along with the 450 steel spare and tire), tach, louvers, tuff wheel and Super Track Pak.

Eric, the code is on the tag and broadcast sheet, it is not on the window sticker.

DOH, I mis-read your original post. That's a cool car....STP 4spd and louvers! The louvers would be black on a GW3 car and it has the required mirror option for the louvers. Not sure about the window sticker omission, as they would have been an extra cost option.

This document you have looks like a mis type for Six Pack 71 GTX. It has the same sequence number.

But why is it Hart C-P in Fullerton (not too far from Comptom)?

Dealer trade?

Typo. There can not be two VINs with the same six numbers from the same plant in the same model year.

It looks like it was passed from one dealership to another to sell, the locations & dealership names are different.

I have seen cases where the new dealership typed up a new window sticker to reflect the right dealership data before, so that may be what happened here?

Yes, just a typo (I wish it was a 6bbl car;-). The SPD is 911 and the sheet lists it as being a sold car. Maybe the original buyer backed out of the deal? It sat for quite some time, until the new owner took delivery July 29th, 1971.

I have an old Riverside Raceway program that shows

Hart - Fullerton
11520 West Olympic Blvd.
West Los Angeles.
GR. 8-9804 <-telephone number

They commonly sponsored Richard Petty in the early-mid 60's when he came out here and ran the Riverside 500 Nascar races.

Sold car indicates that a deposit was placed at time of order. This was often done by dealerships ordering their own stock, they may not have had a customer lined up for it.

There is an early '71 GTX - GW3 440 4bbl 4-speed 4.10 car here in Vegas (no louvers, though). Anyone have the 4-speed/4.10 numbers?

The window sticker has a blank line one after the location louvers should've been listed. Does the total at the bottom ad up to the correct amount?

Was the car at the "fling"? I didn't see it anyone got a pic?

It appears to have been originally ordered by & shipped (Sept. '70) to Moothart (used as a demo/salesman's loaner/owner's - wife - son's driver??), then sold 10 months latter (July '71) from Hart Fullerton (as a discounted never registered new car with miles??). Maybe with a 440+6bbl but without the louvers?

A friend just sold a set of original (old stash) black louvers - from CA.

Hey Dan, sorry I missed you while out there! I would have given you copies of the docs. Yup, I found it parked on the street right outside the gate Saturday morning at 0700. Bought and paid for by 1200. The total came out to $4,554.35.

Unfortunately, I do not have any other original window stickers for 71 B louver cars. Still, I have to think this was a printing mistake. I look forward to seeing more photos of the car when it arrives!
