I'd suggest finding the best initial with the dist you have so you can then shorten the slots while you have it apart to get 36 total (the dimention is in the archives) but go a bit less then creep up on it then grab a JY RB dist & take it apart & clean & lube it & set the lower shaft end play to .005" with 1/2" ID flat shims or washers from a hardware store or www.speedwaymotors.com has a kit for cheap. Add a shim down on the nub in the center where the clip goes to reduce the cam plate axial play. Toss the heavy spring with the elongated slot on one end & work on spring tension staying just under the pinging point at WOT then plug in vac adv & work with it (2 adjustments). This'll give you a far better setup than anything you can buy & shaft/bushing wear is negligible on electronic units & if the guts ain't all rusted out you have a perfect base to work with for far less money than ANY new item that is currently offered. . There is alot of gain to be had by dialing in the subsystems IN ORDER

Maybe it's me but I just do not see anything that resembles an answer to the actual question asked in this ????

You could better than the kit ditributor having advanced rebuild yours to your specs. He does a great job reasonably priced and had mine done two weeks from drop off. Advanceddistributors.com
What was I thinking....

thanks you for the quick replies guys , its been appreciated , at the minute my MP distributor is ok , recently had to change the magnetic pick up ( second one in 7 years), that left me dead in the water , well road !! that got me thinking . getting another electronic distributior , all set up & dialed in as a spare , magnetic pick up craps out again , swap distributor on side of the road type thing , so no where on the list of didtributors i posted the links to , does it say what parts / guts are in the distributors , also i keep seeing mopar preformance parts , on back order for a long time , & or never to be in stock , check out left side RB stamped steel rocker arms , is mopar making any new parts or when the stock goes thats it anyways thanks again for the replies

Well, now we have two RRs, at each other's throats. Boys, behave!
I have had ONE mag pickup go bad in around 400,000 miles. I have also had TWO point-style distributors that were unreliable because, as it turned, out, they were worn to the point that the cam had lateral movement and wouldn't open the points all the time. So fuuture posters, don't tell me points are more reliable.
OP, WHY don't you buy a spare mag pickup and keep it in the trunk? It weighs less, costs less, and the distributor on the RB is in the front where you can get at it.
If that doesn't work for you, then troll the 'bay and pick up an Accel or Mallory electronic distributor if you really want to have one in your trunk. I don't trust the off-brand knockoffs, which I'm sure have QC issues.
RapidR may not have answered the question but he brings up a really important point. Getting the ignition curve right is one of the best things you can do for any engine.
To further muddy the issue, I would suggest getting a NEW distributor by a name brand and getting the curve right on it. Then take your current distributor and use it for a spare.
R.
PS: The RB with stock heads usually makes best power at 38 degrees ignition lead.

Due to some issue I can not get any information on, the MP distributors are all discontinued now. Whether they come in a kit or separate, they are gone.
I believe mp intends to try and take care of the issue and possibly offer the parts later, when whatever the problem is gets ironed out.

The second Jegs one listed is the closest one I see to a MP unit. It has full mechanical adjustments and the instructions recommend the MP advance kit so it uses the same keys and springs to adjust it.
Can you snap a picture of it ? I wonder if that jegs unit is made by Mallory like the current MP unit ?
If the OP has an original Hemi dual point I'll gladly trade my Mallory/Mp RB unit for it ...
