And about the only difference between it and a stock iron one is the weight.
Kevin
wrong..it's a good intake, especailly if you work it a little.

The Hot Rod Test of the 383 Intakes - The DP4 versus the Performer (Stock Factory Intake Was Not In That Test)
From what I remember there was like 1 ft lb difference between the two and something like 4-5 hp WOW !!!
And personally I have seen dyno numbers on both intakes and they where within a few hp either way on a mildly built 383 - Apples to Apples
"mildly built 383" being the key element here. Now add a lot more cam compression, carb, better exhaust and see which prevails.
I have a SB Perf. and an old LD4B, flip them over and look at the cast runners and huge difference. The Perf. looks like it would be lucky to hit 5k rpm. Which was OK back in the day when it was designed for its intended market.
on my SB I went from a performer to a LD4B..night and day improvment
I went from the weiand action plus on my smogger 440 to the RPM intake..again night and day improvment.
the RPM has lots more torque down low and and thru the rpm range
when I went to the LD340 over the LD4B I did not get the same result, a very slight increase over all with that swap.
IMHO,the CH/DP were the LD intakes for the B/RB intakes and work very well.
so whats wrong with old stuff that still works today? from what I see the new stuff is only slightly better in looks/performance and cost more.

Ch4B will fit under a stock hood with a factory air cleaner , an RPM won't . thats one big reason for me.
As long as your stock aircleaner isn't an air grabber air cleaner on a 69 plymouth it might .
The CH4B, like the DP4B , is taller than a stock iron intake.

And from all the dyno tests i have seen its not any better then a Edelbrock Performer Intake , maybe a couple horsepower at best - So why would anyone spend the time and money on a used DP/CH Intake and not knowing what your getting as far as its been milled or heli-coils etc. when you can get the Performer or Performer RPM brand new ???
Reading all your posts in this thread it appears you really have a hair across your backside against the DP4B , did you get stood up on a date with one ?
...
There is a thread here somewhere were there was a comparision of the Dp4B vs. the performer , it's the same manifold , for some reason Ebrock turned it 180* and moved the coil mount, added EGR port ??? I'll post the pictures again.

Because: an intake manifold is basically a non-wear item; a used DP/CH is maybe a third the price of a new intake; it is a pretty darn good intake in its own right - better than the Performer, with more hood clearance than an RPM; it's half the weight of the factory iron intake; and there is nothing wrong with heli-coils for something as lightly loaded as carb/coil mounting studs/bolts???

First of all where talking about the 383 here , not the 440 in that test - Also the Performer WASNT in that test you posted - Also in that test the Performer Rpm makes a positive torque difference down low compared
Again 383 , and the Performer wasn't in that test
NEXT
Who is we ? Maybe you need to re-read the question....it clearly asks about a CH4B and whether or not it will fit on a low-deck. Of course the answer is no.
You go on to inject your opinion on the CH4B which is indeed.... wrong. There is a huge difference between a 440 performer and the CH4b. The 440 performer is more restrictive than a stock manifold....on a 440 with some cam/headers it's all done at 5300 or thereabouts. I know i had one on my old 446 !
The 383 performer is a much better manifold vs it's 440 counterpart, that much is obvious by the dyno results and a visual inspection.....no disagreement there. But saying that the CH4B is no better than a 440 Performer is Bull$hit.
Right back at ya

From my experience with the SB Performer and the LD4B was the performance difference was fanominal. The LD4B ran up to 6000 without a problem and 11.80's for me. Much more gain going from the performer to the LD4B than from the LD4B to the LD340. Which on the same package resulted in mid 11.60's.
