Hey, I know these are not pretty, but I need to get my project going. Does anyone have any experience with these? Is there any difference in manufacturers, etc. I see Dantes sells them.

I got an accuform as a temp for my challenger... they suck! I basically just set it in place like a cover. I don't mind the look of the grain or cheapness of them, they just don't fit right.

Thanks. I saw this article from mopar magazine that actually made me think the cap could be installed and look decent.

I bought a 72 challenger parts car that had one on it. I didn't even notice it until after I got the car home. It fit pretty good, the one I had. It looked way better than a cracked dash pad, imo.

It was made by the same guys who made the door panels for E body's that didn't fit very well. Palomino or something like that.

Overall I think it is a good alternative to a 600 dollar dash pad and a ton of work to install it.

I read the directions on the back of it when I took it off and it said to fill and smooth any cracks in your dash pad and only use adhesive around the perimeter so it would not be seen when it settles onto your dash like after being in the sun.

BTW I sold it on E bay in 2003 for 400 bucks, swear. Way more than a new one cost.

Believe me if you saw one in person it would stand out. I think my cracked dash looked better than the cap.

Shhh, I will be trying to sell one on Ebay. I went with a new pad after looking at the cap. So keep it under your hat until I sell my never installed one.

Does anyone here ever used a palomino dash pad cap?
Do they still make them?

Like I said above the one I had fit pretty good on a challenger.

I didn't notice that brand when shopping for on. The grain, no stitching, script, etc... wasn't an issue to me. It would be nice if it would just fit snug.

The Palomino one I had, had a big ole sticker on the back with the name and some detailed installation instructions.

Thanks for kickin this topic around. I really hate spending the 700 to 900 dollars on this dash. And believe me , I have seen the caps at shows and I can pick them out at about six feet away, but....I would settle for a cap to get the project done. I'm willing to spend the time to make it work.I'll check out palomino??
I called superior in ohio, and dantes. Theyre all about the same price, superior a little cheaper.

Here is my 2 cents on this topic..... I think dash caps are fine for drivers but if you are going for a nice restore or even a clean survivor then I think replacing the dash pad is the better way to go.

Right now my Cuda is a driver, about 5 years ago I put a dash cap on it because I could not stand to look at the dry cracked dash pad anymore. It definitely was an improvement and looks better but when I go thru and do the paint and freshen up the interior the dash cap will go and I will replace the cracked dash pad with a new one.

I have included some before and after pictures. Sorry for the poor quality on the pictures (especially the after pictures). For some reason the after pictures makes the dash cap look discolored but it is not.

If you are on a budget then I would say go for the cap, but if you can afford to replace the pad you would probably be happier with the outcome going that route.

Ok, does anyone know if the Palco one is any different than the Accuform one? Just trying to get the best possible advantage.
Thanks,
Chris.
PS. " Challenger ", I did find the Palomino one, I think is it now called Palco.
