Predators have the potential to make good power. Several made 1200+ and I'm still working on the combination. I must admit though....I'm sorry to say, it would be a lot easier with a GM deal. They have stuff on one carb that makes 1200. I'm just not enamored with the location of the distributor, but getting closer to the reality of the higher HP situation with Mother Mopar being pretty bleak. That is unless you have the money for Pro Stock or Comp.
I just don't get why there aren't more Mopar guys trying to attain development in the higher HP arena. Its really frustrating to see noone put forth the effort and when they do, they've jumped ship to other brands. We need more Larry Obrien's out there to help BB Mopar Cylinder Head development which is near nonexistent. Not to mention that the company's that make BBM cylinder heads know they own the market. They don't have to rush to develop anything, there's no real competition there. And forgive me if I offended any of these company's, it just seems like this is the case.
In regards to the Predator being a chevy or whatever, who knows but the original designers themselves. I can say this without question though, an EIEIEIEI or IEIEIEIE valve layout is one of the best ways to attain a bigger port area for a mopar in an inline valve layout if your looking for maximum flow numbers. The lifter bore location and spacing flat out makes it extremely difficult maximize the port area. With this design of course, you would be escaping any original geometrical constraints for the most part. New headers, cam, intake, rocker arms, etc. The head would also be closer to pro mod or pro stock dimensions as well.
Believe me, if some of the traditionalist here sat down to create a cylinder head to out perform the best heads available, you wouldn't be tossing that "conventional" or "original" word around very much after a month of development lol.

It amazes me that an aftermarket company can build ANYTHING for Ford & Chevy guys and they accept it as their own, yet deviate from assembly line hardware and MOPAR guys question the valve angle, port layout, bore center, etc., etc....
Is it any wonder......
Us Racers need those Big Heads and some 5" bore blocks to go with them. And the reason we do not have any of it is our own fault. I'm tried of spending 3-5 times what the Brand XXX guys spend and still not being able to keep up with them. From now on I'm gonna do what ever it takes to stay on Top of things.
Actually there were just recently some spread bore hemi heads made for Mike Sanders 655 Hemi. So there are still some people out there trying to better the Mopar world!
FHO and Best did them.... just saying...Theres HOPE!!

.004 is hardly spread bore, someone needs to make either a 5" or a 5.3" bore space block and Hemi heads accordingly. (or a cast production version of the Alan Johnson 5.3" Hemi )
For us utilizing forced induction for Outlaw racing, the stock 4.80" space is just fine.

They bolt to mopar block not to a GM or ford block and that to me says they are mopar heads........I am small block guy and I would run whatever makes power on the MOPAR block I have to run.
that sums it up. if they say they are chevy heads tell them to bolt them up on a chevy and prove it.

That crap comes from the top too. When Dodge was getting back into NASCAR in 2000, Ernie Elliott submitted a symmetrical port head that was ignored, due to the lack of the paired exhaust ports that marketing wanted to see. Ever wonder why the B1 BS errr.... TS Pro Stock stuff had paired exhaust ports? Inferior design, but a small hit of N2O made up for it, and then some.

I just cant get another head .I"m limited to the B1 castings only. This enough can make you crazy ,there is 1 guy I found to make sheet metal valve covers ,1 guy that can cnc port them,1 company that makes rockers ,1 cast manifold available . This alone wants me to do another brand but...... I persevered threw it . I'm finally at the stage to order piston , I bought the heads November of 2011 .There PSO castings .
I wanted to see what people thought about the predator ,the rule makers call them chevy heads
Hey Gup, What rulemakers are you talking about? The series that I race in allows non conventional heads i.e.: big chief/profiler etc, they just add weight. If you really want to stir the pot they are closest to the 318 Poly head. That is where the chevy guys loose their minds, canted and splayed years before GM engineers even came close to that design. I have blueprints to post if you want them. Steve

I'm curious as to what the rules makers would call the abortions that are Big Chiefs, Raptors, Profilers, the Sonny's castings.....especially the HEMI and any number of other ( ) "chevy" ( ) heads.
Real chevy heads can't fall out a tree.....when dropped.

Most don't know you have to run a conventional style head in these small tire heads-up classes, including gm & ford racers with bigblocks!!!
Hang in there as you will continue to have one of the most bada$$ or should i say the top small tire MOPAR in the country.

Gup there is more than just one person that CNC's these heads....LOL
Also, in my opinion, the best class right now is Ultra, They are all scared right now of the Mopar combo, and there aren't any in the class yet ! ! LOL They are going 5 teens and O's so you know what its going to take , just finish your build and use a "NO" jet plate tuneup. The info is out there and I think you know what tuner can help you. He is building his own B1 PSO combo also for X275 and his will be fuel injected.

The predator is considered NON conventional for Ultra and X275 is because of the valve layout. That is exactly what John Sears told me. He considers ANY Mopar head that has the EI IE EI IE valve layout to be conventional. WHen I asked him does that mean PSO casting or MC casting ? He told me any B1 that has the "original" factory valve layout is considered conventional.

So the B1-TS would be allowed then?

I just wonder how many would know the difference in the Mopar heads?I just about bet unless you asked them or some of your friends(We all have those)ratted you out, unless you was running against another Mopar racer no one would ever catch it.Put a Big block Mopar engine in something other than a Mopar and see what engine everyone will think you have. I can tell you because I run a Big block Mopar in a dragster for years, and everyone even other Racers always thought it was a small block chevy.
