Go with the original color right down to the original color undercoats to get the right (original) hue.... if it was red primer/ light grey sealer/ teal paint... that will look awesome! My vote is , when in doubt keep it original... Good luck to you!

I doubt originality will make any difference in vehicle value given the modifications made to the car(motor, etc..) Are you putting the vinyl top back on? As for a colour other than the original, HArd to say. It looks like a bit of a race car, so something bright. Yellow perhaps, or really crazy red.
