cucu, you didn't happen to take any photos of the mods you made did you? I have been watching your post and I am thinking of doing the same. Im glad you got it worked out. Andrew

i didnt take any pics of the plate but I could. i did two plates and one of them was actually broken but I didnt see it before I welded it (I did notice the plate was bent though- turns out it was bent cause it was broken). I could show you what I did.

Yes. I spot checked the table listed on here with the one I made through measurements. They are nearly the same.

i used manifold vac. it gives me more at idle. and the starter likes it better.

X2

I'm not going to get dragged into a debate about it (just watch; people will jump in saying that it isn't needed, or that ported is the way to do it) - just saying try it and see how it works for your car.

BTW, see if a there's a small allen bolt inside your stock can; I've adjusted 'em for the rate the vac advance comes in that way.

here are some pics I took. the untouched plate is marked 17 which is 34 degrees total. thats the plat that WAS in my car until I just recently removed it. you can see they slanted the slots to get more advance out of it. Its way to much timing.

The welded plate was the one that was marked 15 (30 degrees total). the slots are milled out to give 14 degrees of total

The timing on this topic worked out great for me. I just did this a few weeks ago to the dual point distributor going on my 68 Hemi Road Runner. The slots initially were .475" and I welded mine up and filed them down to .420". We checked it on a distributor machine afterward and got 12 degrees total mechanical advance on the distributor (24 at the crank). I checked it again with a timing light once the engine was running and it is right on the money. I gave the engine about 11 degrees initial and I have 35 total mechanical. For now the engine seems to like it. I had something like 36 degrees mechanical advance before. I used the same chart from the magazine that was posted earlier. I also replaced the factory heavy spring with a Mopar Performance light spring and the timing starts advancing around 900 and is all in @ 2200 rpm.
