Because when one fails and it lets crap pass the filter it only causes needless wear on the engine, not catastrophic failure. I ve used Walmart filters and I think they are ok, but their cans are pretty thin and bend easy. I stopped buying them when I discovered that. Wix for me. Gave up on Fram over 20 years ago!

It's got 154k miles on it now and it hasn't yet kicked the rods outta the block!! And she doesn't spare it any either. By the looks of that filter in the above link, it has cardboard end caps too. I need to get that off of there ASAP. I usually run CarQuest blue filters.(Wix)

pjc360 mopar P Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 653 montana	napa gold wich is wix, car quest blue wich is wix and wix, wichever one is cheaper when i need one, all 3 are the same filter. Main reason i like wix the best is cause they have the best anti drain back valve and set up of all the filters i have cut open. I normally like to buy the car quest blue filters the most because they are white and its easy to tell if any oil is leaking at the filter. But i have cut open a napa gold, and a car quest blue and a name brand wix and all 3 are identical, only difference is the color and the stickers on the filter.
