The A518 is a small block trans? Can A518 be mated to big block?
need to convert it with a JW Ultrabell
That's what I did.
have you run it yet ? also did you dial it in ? . the JW I helped a friend put in his drag car needed offset bushings , it was connected to a powerglide , what a nightmare it was indicating the pump bushing thru that small hole on the bottom on an assembled engine .

Is this going in a passenger car or a truck? I would love to slip an A-500 behind the 318 in my '65 Valiant but space is severely limited. The fitment issues are the same as a B body/518 swap from what I am told.

No, I haven't got a change to drive down the highway yet. I've drove it around the yard some. I'm working on brakes at the moment and some wiring on the ignition. I'm waiting on FBO to send me some stuff, Pirate Jack's and and ebay item.....oh ya Summit also.

John your supposed to empty the trans (Which it sounds like you did) then indicate the surface where the pump O ring seals... You can look at the indicator throught the opening where the valve body goes....

A member of our car club just did a 518 swap in an 74 Barracuda with 360 with help of another club member, Rory Fontana (Fontana Motorsports). Key was cutting a trans casting rib and fixture mount. Then made a trans cross member. Pretty slick without beating the body at all. (Edit) Read about this swap here: http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=84774.0Rory Fontana made some cross members and is selling them:

looking good on that switch setup.
AutoX- how much is Fontana selling those trans mounts for? Do they use the stock trans rubber mount or another brand and if another, which?
Sorry I forgot to link to webpage with the details on that 518 swap: http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=84774.0
It uses a GM type trans mount because they use less vertical space.
I don't remember the price. We had a show and tell about this swap at the last car club meeting, but I don't remember the price. But I remember him saying he did sell a couple at Spring Fling.
