I know it's been on here before but I can't find the post.

What do these heads flow out of the box, and what kind of numbers are they capable?

Thanks, Jeff

it depends on which heads you get and if they are ported by Stage V I had a set of the standard heads that where ported by Stage V and they flowed around 430 CFM at .700 on the intakes at 28 inches, if I remeber correctly The flow bench operator said that those heads where the best flowing heads he had flowed up until that time includung some ollder model DRE2 pro stock heads the month before

I talked to Jeff at Modern Cylinder last week, He told me that the New MP heads (Edelbrock) will go 440+ CFM with his CNC program, and that its basiclly the same program used on a Stage V head..

I think these heads I have are two or three years old, and I would like to use them, but will sell them and buy another kind if I need to.

From the part number can anyone tell me what we have, are they good ones or not so good?

Are those stagev or mopar performance heads? I have been told you can tell the difference between the two by the undrilled dual plug boss on the mp heads and none on the stagev units.

I did'nt know that MP even sold Stage V heads. But I would'nt be surprized as they sell all the Edlebrock stuff under their name...lol

If those are just MP heads, they are still really good heads and probably do flow around 430 CFM or so. Are they 2.25 intake valve or the Big Valve 2.3?

2.25 is what they supposed to be on the intake, but I have not measured them, but will.

I said stage 5, and thought that was what they were. They're just mopar performance hemi heads.

FHO has my new CNC stage v's.
IIRC they flow 460/350.
Now ,I don't know if the mopar ones are different then regular stage v product

Heck I'd trade my B1s for those heads dodgeman! Jeff at Modnern knows! He can make those babies flow a bunch! Even with the 2.25 valve!

Despite what some might say, the MP head is a good head. They can make good power also. I went with the new MP/Edelbrock heads and couldnt be more happier. I talked to Jeff at MCH and he assured me that his CNC program will make great power. He said these heads will flow 440+CFM after his CNC porting, with a 2.25 intake valve IIRC.

I'm writing a book "How to Build a Max-Performance Hemi" for CarTech books (The SA series). Chapter 5 is all about the heads and as part of this book I took all the familiar heads and flowed them. I even did a BAE head just to see what those monsters would do.

Anyway - here what the MP (cast iron) and the Stage-V head did. The MP aluminum head was just a shade less than the Stage-5.

No port work.

Wow! I knew Stage V were better than the MP stuff but I didn't think they were that much better!

Those were the MP cast iron heads. The MP aluminum was fairly close to the Stage-V.

Is this the new MP Edelbrock aluminum, or the older MP aluminum heads #4529336 ?

Thanks,
Mark

It was the 4529336

But Canfield (the new Hemi head) says that the flow numbers are within measurement error of the 9336 until ported. Apparently the newer head has some extra material available.

I won't even tell you what this head flowed. You measure this intake runner by dropping in a golf ball and measuring how much time it takes to hit the valve.

Your PM capacity is full. Sorry. I was asked not to publish the flow numbers just yet.
