I just gotta know what they flowed. (without the golfball too) Dave

Your PM capacity is full. Sorry. I was asked not to publish the flow numbers just yet.

I didn't know my box was full, cleaned it out a bit. I understand, if they don't want the numbers published that's fine with me. Thanks, Dave

Ok guys some good information.

It's time for me to get back to working on this thing.

On the MP heads I have, if I was just wanting to clean the intake and exhaust side up by hand where and what do I need to work on?

My MP/Edelbrock heads flowed no were near, what people claimed they did. They went roughly 340-350 at .700 and didn't get any better. Jeff at Modern Cylinder took care of that. I took pic before and after, but still really couldn't tell were he enlarged the port. Pretty much the whole port was enlarged, so much that it broke into the push rod tunnel area, this is pretty common with Hemi's, and was tubed to keep from leaking oil.

4.89 in a 2,600 pound car in the 1/8 mile, is that doable with a 500 inch motor.

You're not helping Scott.

I'm writing a book "How to Build a Max-Performance Hemi" for CarTech books (The SA series). Chapter 5 is all about the heads and as part of this book I took all the familiar heads and flowed them. I even did a BAE head just to see what those monsters would do.

Anyway - here what the MP (cast iron) and the Stage-V head did. The MP aluminum head was just a shade less than the Stage-5.

No port work.

Will there be a chapter on valavetrain geometry and how to set it up ?

You could always put a little spray to it. I know a guy right around the corner that can help you out

For the Stage V when you say, no porting does that mean no blending of the CNC factory machining to the stock casting of the ports?
Any flow numbers on mildly ported heads to claen up the ports and blend in the CNC gasket matching?
This is what I am in the process of, just blending and cleaning up the ports a bit, no real aggressive cutting just smoothing out.
Thanks!

I finished assembling the Hemi for the book last week. We flowed the Stage-V heads after a bowl blend, gasket match and a minor first stage porting job. Angie at Mopar Engines West did the work.

They flowed 400 (int)and 280 (exh) at .700 lift! I was surprised.

Dyno next week!

Of course - it's one of the most important things about building a Hemi.

Cool, that was what I was looking for and plan to do to mine, for the 426 build, port match and some blending and if I get 400 cfm I will be happy. When I build the 528 I will send the to get CNCed.
