I have a 1973 Dodge Charger SE and was wondering where they stamped the body numbers. The rad support is the usual spot as well as the trunk lip. Mine has NO number stamped on the rad support after wire brushing away all the paint down to bare metal. The trunk lip does have a stamping located on the upper driver’s side corner. I have the VIN plate/tag but do not have the fender tag. I did find a stamping on the cowl, driver’s side near the mesh. Numbers read facing the windshield.

So what I need help on is if the numbers stamped on the body are in connection with the VIN tag. It doesn’t appear so from my matches. And I know certain model years that the fender tag has something to do with body stampings. I’ve attached pics (3) to help explain my situation. My VIN reads: (gonna leave out the last six):

Most of the 3rd gen Chargers I have had, the Radiator support numbers have been facing the radiator and not on the top of the support. The only other body stamping is on the cowl above the wiper motor, sometimes under the weather strip. No number on the trunk lip. The stampings will be the last 6 or 7 of the VIN #

Thanks again T2R9, I will scour those areas and let you know my success. I'm taking it that those numbers in my pics I posted are not irrelevant to the VIN or fender tag.

They are not related to the VIN. The stampers had their own numbers. the SS is for Sterling Stamp Works, a Chrysler owned sheet metal stamping factory.
