You can use a small socket the size of the fastener with a bolt & nut & tighten it to make a small recess in the hood for the fastener to set in.They are much nicer than hood pins!

With a 6 pak hood its a real good idea to have at least one in the front middle. More if possible. My son has issues with his and he's only going 10.50's

Look at this website for good info on Dzus fasteners. I have about 50# of them from when I was in the Army, they just scrapped them. Tim

Thankxxx guys..................Not liking these things and two broke tightening them so I`m using all of the fastners except for the spring loaded lock piece and running my alum. pins through em. Different and way more reliable than the crumbling Moroso pieces I waisted my money on but hey, what else would I be doing w/my time............
I know some dont like the hood pins, but I think they hold better than the other things. I had dzues fasteners on my hood with a hemi scoop, and the air tried to rip the hood off at 120. Now whether it was because I didnt have enough, 8 of them, or in the wrong place, dont know. But I have 6 hood pins, 3 across the back and 3 across the front, hood never moves at 130 so far, looking for more in a few weeks.
Personally, I think you made the right move, but I would make sure you put one in the middle in the front down lower than the corner pins. That hood is going to try and lift in the very front in the middle.

Run at least three across the front, I like four with my six pack. If you are breaking the springs then you have the wrong depth springs and zues. Mine dont break at 150+.

Thumper I don't know you personally but I know one way or another you WILL make it work. You are not the type of guy that is easily defeated. Most guys would have dropped the car off at someones shop with the hood still in a cardboard box and tell them to install it and come back in a few days to pick up THEIR car. I know for a fact it feels a lot better at least for me knowing I did it, not someone else. Keep up the great work and keep doin what your doin.
Thankxxxx.............You`re right and I will get this thing to work soon enuff and may just get some different fastners and go a few more rounds w/this thing................
what size dzus fasteners did you use? there are at least 2 different sizes,,#5 and #6 I believe,, #5 being the lighter ones and usually use the 1" spring and mount,, the #6 uses the larger body with heavier 1.5 (i think) spring and mount

I have been using the MOROSO Dzus fasterners for years. I do have the #6 long fastener. I bought the medium height spring and an adjusting tool.
Make the hood fit with perfect gaps etc. etc. Then figure where the spring mount will fit along the fender. Lay the hood back in place and masking tape a line down each side of the hood. Measure off the fender edge and mark the masking tape. Then you can drill the hood for the fastener. I never broke the fastener but, have bent the spring. WD40 is a good freind of DZUS.
I'll bet you need at least 10 dzus fasteners maybe more. My hood has a Three down each side along the fender. One on each side the cowl. Two on the front corners of the cowl. That aint enough. My hood has small cracks where the cowl begins. And the cowl hood handles wind a lot better than the forward facing scoop hoods.
