Does anyone have pics of original 383 mufflers?

Mike....I don't think anybody does....

There is a 27k mile original 69 RR on the 'bag I don't know it it has original exhaust on it , it looked to shiney , but it appeared to have welded mufflers and they were crushed corner like the original Hemi mufflers .

I already looked (I like that Road Runner!!) It has aftermarket exhaust on it.

....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

put your money where your mouth is ... typical moparts ....

I have a serious question , where they actually but welded or did the muffler slip over the pipe and it was welded ?

they were butt welded to the exhaust pipe on 383 and down engines.

John , the muffler inlet was actually part of the head pipe,it didnt slip over the head pipe. I think they were built this way to speed up assembly on the line , the head pipes were installed on the cars with the mufflers already on the head pipes. I looked but cant find the feature on the 440 -6 Cuda I mentioned earlier that had the exhaust restored this way

And thanks for the answer on how they were originally, I don't think I have ever seen an original unrestored 68 or 69 roadrunner up close. there was supposed to be a 6000 mile original 69 in the town I grew up in , the owner went off to war and didn't return , I've never seen that car surface as far as I know ...

I had a 69 GTX in high school that came with the original exhaust. I'm pretty sure I don't remember any joints between the mufflers and H pipe on it either.

Dave at ECS might have some original set ups. Have you tried him yet?
