Personally, I hope Danica has a great season. Nascar has gotten a bit redundant in the past few years and needs something to put a spark back in the fan experience. She could do a lot for Nascar.

No disrespect to Danica, she probably wasn't even aware the fix was in...but I'm sure that car was so well-massaged all she had to do was follow the instructions and hug the line....it was all a foregone conclusion. NASCAR has the most active and contrived propaganda minister since the Third Riech ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Twocents.gif) Now what would be the perfect "fairy tale" to get people to watch....hmmm ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/1343795-scratchchin.gif) All the sponsors need to show off there new cars and it's so easy to pass a bigger restrictor plate through for the sake of ratings. Just like Jr winning the nationwide race in the '3' tribute car a few yrs back. Was that a race or a "Wonderful world of Disney" script from the 60's. I'm sure Gordo had somebody in is ear that lap with live telemetry telling him to back off a tad. Pass the Kool Aid, Bubba!

You could've opened this thread with "Danica's on the Pole at Daytona", and you refrained?? Sheez!
Ok, we all know this won't end pretty...
I envision her getting a tap, and spinning through the infield dirt somewhere within the first 5 laps. Whatdya think?

Someday she might actually win a race, but when that happens, if it ever does, then most here will just say she got lucky, or it's only one race, or it's about time, or they let her win, or something else negative. Heaven forbid that a woman in a male dominated sport ever does well, right? I won't waste my time watching cars go in a cirlce for 3 hours and sitting through 150 commercials, so to say i'm not a nascar fan would be an understatement. (years ago i was a fan before the COT and some other changes) The final point i'll throw out there is i'm just surprised at the negativity toward that woman on this site. Perhaps that reflects more on the individual than it does on her, who knows.

If she makes it to the half way point without wadding up her car I will be shocked. Nascar is so political its unreal.

Nascar has a long way to go to catch up. Qualifying number 1 will not mean a thing if she does not perform on Sunday....so far that is something she has not shown the skill to do. Danica herself said it best..."I was brought up to be the fastest driver, not the fastest girl," think any of these ladies cared about qualifying #1?
1966 • Shirley Shahan becomes first female to win an NHRA national event title. 1973 • Shirley Muldowney becomes first female to be licensed in Top Fuel. 1976 • Shirley Muldowney becomes first female to win a national event title in a pro category. 1977 • Shirley Muldowney becomes first female to win Top Fuel championship. 1980 • Shirley Muldowney becomes first driver to repeat as Top Fuel champion. 1982 • Shirley Muldowney and Lucille Lee face off at Springnationals at Columbus, Ohio in first all-female pro category final in NHRA history. 2007 • Peggy Llewellyn (PSM) becomes first black female to win a Full Throttle Series race.
They were all winners at the highest level!! Something Danica has yet to prove. Nothing but media hype and something NASCAR desperately needs right now.
"Turbo will be easiest, and at the HP level will also be easiest on parts. Spend the money to do it right, and you can build a 500 HP street motor that will live a long and happy life, and probably with a very basic short block."
Those words must have left a bad taste in his mouth!

Take note that Shirley Muldowney was in her 4th year before she won a championship and she had some of the best help anyone could ask for. I'd say that's impressive regardless of gender. So how many full seasons has Patrick been in the Sprint series? Obviously the two types of racing are totally different, but plenty of men throughout history have been in Nascar longer and either didn't win a championship or never even won a race. Give her time.

Everybody knows I'm a Drag-Racer,so don't misunderstand what I am saying.Nascar got what I did not watch it 3-4 hours of quality time(in the Time period everyone watch's) on TV for their Qualifying, one car on the track at a time going around in a circle.NHRA got only 3 hours for Eliminations in a time slot most people were getting their kids ready to go to School & them to work today! They get 2 hours sometimes more on Speed before switching over to the channel the race will be aired on(and it always starts on time) then another hour of boring talk before the race starts,Red Flag delays running a hour or two over no problem they keep showing the race.NHRA is lucky if they start 30 mins. after their time slot starts, and even more Lucky if they don't have to shorten their program to finish in their time slot. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rant.gif) nascar must be doing something right that NHRA is not. Danaica just won the pole Courtney won the race. It was all over every TV channel last night about Dana winning the pole, but I saw nothing about the Li'll Force girl winning the race(both Females).

Yeah NASCAR has got a kagillion dollars of sponsorship money tied up in those cars, and those sponsors buy advertising on the TV. Plus+ the news media does not really like drag racers, every high speed accident starts the news with drag racers. You never hear NASCAR type street racers tonight killed a family of whatever. Its always someone drag racing on the street. Shsssh
