OK, that may have been a little harsh but..... THEY still use cheap material made by Sun Processing out of Chicago. Reason I know that is Sun Processing is the ONLY company that makes that crap. The stuff EASILY shrinks a 1/4".

I make overlays out of 3M DiNoc. DiNoc was the brand used back in the day but back then it had a paper backing. The new stuff isn't paper backed but is thick, embossed and the dark Walnut color (they don't have the lighter cashmere color). Oh, and the 3M stuff only shrinks a few thou. Maybe .010 or .015 max (I actually cut my material in strips and allow it to shrink/normalize before cutting it) It's used in commercial architectural applications like elevator interiors. The seams on something in your face like that cant be allowed to shrink 1/4".

So apologizing prior to criticizing something makes it acceptable? It seems like only yesterday that you were offended when YOUR items were referred to as "Art Store Gasket Material". Maybe if the word "crap" had been added to describe your product, you would have felt better....right? You should practice what you preach. Hopefully we won't see anymore critical comments from the "71TAsperts". Hypocrisy at its finest!

Nice first post...

Jim's products are absolutely first class, he is first class & your outta line..

3M DiNoc is still available. $2600/roll but still available. BUT yes this isn't DiNoc of 50 years ago. It's a modern version. Better vinyl. Modern adhesive. Not paper backed like original but it IS the brand name 3M and it is DiNoc.

In all fairness, REM is a big company that probably isn't as passionate anymore. Probably didn't start that way but they make so many products for so many cars there is no way possible for them to do anything well anymore. Hope I never get like that.

PS Randy, he has another "helpful" post over on that RPM thread too

The thing that kills me is so many folks buy/sell the REM product & have no clue how inferior the stuff is. Before you come on Moparts & talk crap buy Jim's product & see what the stuff originally looked like... What a quality product actually looks like...

No, he's just trying to sugar coat an untasteful product that has obvious quality issues and is offering a better alternative...By the way "welcome" to the board...

He can dish it out but he can't take it huh?

He takes it just fine.. He also understands sometimes being polite & bowing out of is a smarter approach..

If you do Jim, we all will just deal with Loretta instead!

If it fits like crap and looks like crap chances are it is crap and is going to be a bad choice for your car. Anyone who has tried to install an inferior applique/decal on a console knows that starting with an ill fitting product is an exercise in futility and a waste of time and money. I have been there with my b-body console. I had to learn the hard way. I would have liked to have read something like this prior to that effort. In the past week I finished up my '70 cuda console with a wood applique from DMT. It was a joy to install, fit perfect, went on without any headaches and was a great experience. DMT's stuff looks right and fits right and stays put - period. If DMT wants to point out that the alternative product is nothing more than junk, he has done me and many others a favor. If he wants to call it crap, that is AOK too. Maybe REM will take notice and start making a decent product.

The piece from Detroit Muscle fit perfectly. It was a breeze to install and will really dress up the auto console and the 4 speed top plate one on my Cuda.

REM piece is crap!!! You get what you pay for!!!
Thanks Again

Just want to let everyone know that I just applied Jim's woodgrain overlays to my Challenger door panel insert plates and my 4-spd console plate. This was a project I started just recently. I tried someone else's woodgrain, and was unhappy with the product and the end result. Then I tried Performance Car Graphics' product. Not satisfied at all, and it was a nightmare trimming the intentionally oversized console overlay with an exacto knife as instructed. I found DMT's woodgrain overlay products on ebay. Already very much satisfied with Jim's heater-box rebuild kit and firewall gasket set (as-well-as outstanding customer service), I purchased the overlays, got them last week, and installed them last night. Everyone should know that these are the ONLY woodgrain overlays that should be bought/used. They were very easy to apply, and the quality of the 3M DiNoc is superb. Thanks Jim for all the passion you put into your products.
