Converter history:
Bough from PTC, spring 2012. 7" 727 converter.
First 4 runs ok but the stall was approx 8500rpm. So little high!
Engine is 358cid R5P7

Then it was sended to local converter shop for tightening, after that it stalled at 7200 so it was ok. After 2 runs it started to slow the car. transmission oil heats up and the car slows down every run. Et is 0,1s slower in every run and speed came down from 144mph to 133mph.
Only about 12-13runs totally with this converter!

SO, i though the converter is gone, scrap. Was in the garage till yesterday when i decided to open it, just for fun.

Whats wrong with it? More pictures will come

Whoever fixed it boogered it up didn't weld the fins back nad it has rolled a few, looks like they bent them with pliers and took a bunch of shim out of it to tighten it up and it self clearanced when it got hot. I have seen the insides of lots of Kennys converters and I promise they don't look like that when they leave alabama.

PTC is so bad I have only been 4.72 @ 3450lbs with them.
Really one of the better companies out there and if they did mess something up on accident they are the first to fix it with no charge

I wouldn't judge them by that since someone else was in there and who knows what they did.

I didnt say PTC screwed up! Its not easy here because there is only few shops that open them up, not very cheap to send converter around the globe everytime i need something changed.

I emailed PTC after those 4 first runs that the stall speed was not correct but i never got an answer. Thats why i sended it to local shop, my mistake.

I believe local shop twisteed the fins and adjusted some shimming which is not correct way i believe, but everythin else is from PTC. Anybody know guys from ptc? can they still fix this or should i put it on my living room wall

Sure they can fix it. I am really surprised they did not get back with you. But, things can happen. They are good people to deal with. Don't know their success rate with 7" converters as I didn't have great luck with a 7 from them. But, I have many thers from them that were great.

One of the engine guys I deal with once told me to expect to send any converter back a time or two after getting it built to zero it in. Just the nature of the beast. I switched to PTC from Coan on the last converter I bought. and I'm glad I did. Much nicer to deal with. I sent my converter back after the first use to tighten a little and all I paid was shipping. Coan always cost me $300 minimum plus shipping.

I would email those pics to PTC and see if it would be cheaper to build you a new one or if they can fix the one you have for a reasonable price.

It's probably still cheaper to ship it back than what it's going to take to fix it now. On a lighter note, do you have a wall of broken parts in your living room? I usually bury them as they are never to be seen again.

remember, emails can get lost in spam folders, especially since your not on our continent. may be worthwhile to give them a call and leave a message if you can.

I have never used PTC but I would not judge them by this. As was said someone else was in there and all I ever here is good things about PTC and he seems to have a ton of happy customers. Ron
