I am planning to build a stroker motor with a 400 block that I have for my 72 Challenger.
I have looked through 440 Source website and they seem to have pretty good prices on their parts.
My goal is to have the car run somewhere in the 10's at the strip.
My question is how is the quality of their parts?
I read that they use 4340 grade steel but I also read that there are different grades of this steel.
Also their website uses alot of exclamation points! and that always raises a flag to me! I! would! like! to! hear! from! anyone! that! used! their! stuff!
Would you build a race motor with their stroker kit?
Thanks!

I'm not quite sure what your post means but I am only asking for input from anyone that has used their stuff. If you used it, are you happy with the quality?

Sorry I just checked your post count. Your new. 440 Source has a history. Some love the products and some hate. Its just better to leave alone because after the war you will still not have a answer.

i've used 2 of their kits. the first with Ross pistons was total junk & lasted 15 runs before it went sour. the second kit with KB pistons has been ok.

Well a few questions will come into play... are you
talking a 10.90 or a 10.0.. next is what weight will
you be running at.. being that you playing with a E
body and they tend to be heavy you either good HP and
torque or you plan on spinning it up... now back to
the parts... the cranks are forged in China.. they tend
to make their steel on a different scale than US steel
so a 4340 steel doesnt always end up being what the
specs call out for... but if you use the lower RPM
high torque approach and light pistons I dont think
you have too much of a problem.... if you go with
the revs(which I tend to do) you might have a issue
using all their parts.... I went with better parts
on my 514 B1 M/C ... I went with a Callies crank
but I was gonna spin 9000+.............JMO
Either way have all the parts checked by a machinist

You get what you pay for and you get lucky.
But you can usually count on one more than the other.

I had a family member ask the other day at a Christmas
party on the quality of the 440 Source rockers
he was thinking of buying..... I told him to pass
and get some better parts now instead of busting up
stuff and buying better parts later.... of course he
said this is just a street car and then I replied...
how much will it cost when you break them... he said...
point taken..... now would I use their rotating assm
on a street engine.......... I might... but it better
be a cruiser

I can only speak from my experience. I purchased a set of their H-Beam rods for a budget 451 that I used to run. Had them checked by my machinist and all the weights were spot-on as well as the lengths. Had to lightly hone for the pins. I spun that motor to 7,400 rpm. I had a lot of valvetrain problems along the way, but that's another story. That motor went 10.20's in my Dart Sport. From what I read from others experiences, I might have gotten lucky.

patosmith welcome to the site. As the first post says, please use the search function first when you have a question. That way you can read historical opinions and there won't be 100s of posts about the same thing to wade through, but only maybe a dozen.

I have a set of their Stealth heads and no problems with them.I did change the springs retainers and locks as I went with a cam that was more than the 440 source parts were specified for.

3200 pound car, 9.60's in quarters, 6.18 or so in eighth, 7500 rpm shift, lotsa torque, well over 700 passes on 440 source stroker kit. been rebuilt once. use other manufacturers parts for valve train stuff, dampner, rings, bearings, etc. etc. Recommend them?? Yes, take with a grain of salt!!......I have indy heads etc. but I would not hesitate a minute to buy a set of BARE stealth heads if I needed them. Source has helped to hold down prices on mopar related products, EVEN for those that "hate"!!

I used a 440source rotating assembly in my Daytona ans had over 275 passes on it with the quickest being a 8.60@151 mph. I recently sold that rotating assemble to another Moparts member and it will be going in his car soon. There I beem rods were junk and have been discontinued. The only extra work that was required was I had to fit the piston pin to the rod which I did at home and I was told to do this in their instructions.

I use their 4.15 stroker kit . Raced it since 07. Somewhere around 400 passes or so. No issues yet. Car has went 6.46 in the 1/8 .

I can post some pics of broken rods and cranks from Eagle , Manley , Scat , etc..... does that make those brands all junk ???

whatever brand you use--have it all thourougly checked by a machinist and assemble it yourself making sure to carefully double check everything .

Works for me
