Hi, I thinking of switch out my rear chrome bumper and install a original rubber bumper for my 71 cuda.
Is there anything particular i should think about before i make a switch?
Special brackets for bumper,or anything else?
Im looking for a original rubber bumper because i imagine they should fit better than an repro from Gene Gregory..
Let my know your thoughts..

damn, nice cuda! Post some more pics please, what options does it have?
the repo rear rubber bumper from Gene Gregory is very nice, I think compared to an original it would be very hard to tell the difference once painted an installed.
Good luck finding an original if you are set on that. Even with a "mint" original, if it has seen any rain in it's life chances are the rear studs are starting to rust and separate from the core.

there was a thread not too long ago where someone had fittment issues with a repro rear rubber bumper on a cuda-he couldn`t get the ends tucked in enough because the thing was too wide-he had some close up pics of it and it just seemed to jut out at the wrong places. bottom line like most repro parts-we simply cannot make things like the factory did. all the best frank

Don't forget........ you will need a different Jack Hook to keep everything correct.
Got a question pertaining to that. If you had only one rubber bumper, along with a chrome bumper, what hook did you get? #100 for chrome, #101 for rubber, or both?

I like both chrome and rubber bumber looks, but I prefered the chrome bumpers on my 71 so it would break up all the color front and rear especially with a color keyed grille.

Nice choice on that great looking Cuda, Martin...

I have both 70 and 71. I can't see any difference in the two rears. Nor should there be. The front repros from that gregory guy start out as all 71's. Then he cuts them down for the bigger valance opening of the 70. If you must deal with him, be prepared for all kinds of delays, phone messages not returned and total indifference to you. This guy is a real piece of work. If I told you how I really feel, I would never be allowed on this site again. Do you live near Hyylinge Sweden? And that is a great looking car. Post some pics of the Swedish bikini team with the car

Thank You Allen, I think it just looks better to help break up the body color.
