Holy Crap! I used my coat hanger to tap from the stem end and out she came. I thought that the metered orifice on the rear brake side was pressed in but it was the shuttle. Major A-ha moment. The inside is pretty clean with no chunks just a tiny bit of sludge. This was my major concern. I could get some new O ring, and probably will, but they look pretty good and are tight.

Like Crap Game said in Kelley's Heroes, "You get a cookie."

Thanks Greg and everyone

Glad it worked out!
Make sure you check the bore of the cylinder that holds the piston with the cup on it that is retained with the blind plug. The one that is pointed down when the P valve is installed. In mine that cup was pretty eaten up and the bore was pitted. I think water collects there as it is the lowest point in the system when it is installed.

A lot of misuse of the word proportioning valve here. Not sure of this from the pics but most where safety valves so when a line broke shuttle would slide over and shut that side off, prop valves where down stream on rear line, usually v looking thing. I have heard of guys removing these dist valves, big no-no.

Actually most cars from the early 70's and up call them a combination valve many times as it has the dual funtion switch to move over and turn the brake lite on if you loose one side of the system but they also have the prop valve and a metering valve in that valve. The metering valve is only with disc brakes. Ron

Proportioning has been used generically here. In my first post I described the valve as a Brake Warning/Proportioning/Metering Valve. The Proportioning part of this valve is in Runnin74's picture above. It is the greenish piece with the spring wrapped around it and laying vertically in the picture.

I ended up RPMing my housing and putting everything back together. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to put everything back together and see what I have.

Thanks

Let us know how it works out. Did you replace the o-rings and cups? If so where did you source the cups? The cup for the proportioning part of my valve is bad so I am looking for replacements.

I didn't replace anything. Everything looked good so I decided to put it back together and not end up with some wrong sized O rings that would bind.

Will let you know....

Thanks
