I'm not knocking either decision, but it really is apples to oranges;

hard to compare the direct cost of taking it apart, cleaning it up and putting in a new heater core and gaskets vs. a full blown resto using correct plating, rivits, rebuilt motor, new wiring, etc. etc.

I think it depends what you are looking for; how extensive a resto you're doing and the condition of the box in the first place. Mine was a complete mess.

Jules did mine and I'm very pleased with it.
