Is anyone running one of the modern style of tanks? I've got a new spectra tank on the car, but fitting a resivoir to the car is proving tricky.

I'm still not convinced that a new tank is the way to go, but for the sake of civility and packaging it sure would be nice.

I need to have enough fuel in reserve to run the car at WOT for at least 20 seconds.

add an internal pump / sump from rock valley or spring for a tank with it installed already.

best move I ever made on my EFI

http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/page/p...prod/prd253.htm is where I got my universal hanger. Then I built a sump with trap doors, then found an aluminum 25 gallon tank used out of a boat. I got the trap doors from Fuel Safe and they were $90 for the 3.

I originally envisioned having the tank raised above the truck floor about 4" but that wouldnt of allowed me to retain my factory fill location and not have the trunk hinge hit the hose so it now looks like this from the rear. The fill valve is a 45 degree RCI with a flapper.

I'm running a Ricks Hot Rod Shop tank with Bosch pump inside. The Bosh pump is good for +/- 700 HP... in between the Walbro and Aeromotive A1000. I had it made 1" deeper for an extra gallon or so capacity. Huge improvement over the frame mounted pump. The lines come out in approximatly the stock location so I used OE style steel fuel lines with a length of braided hose for the connections at the tank and in the engine compartment (3/8" supply/8 AN braided, 5/16" return/6 AN braided).

How much is a Rock Valley (or other custom) tank? Looking a bit online at some other forums says $1000+, so I'm curious what a Mopar one is worth to be close to the price of that $550 Aeromotive kit..

Just another idea (which is popular for retrofits) would be to use a regular carb style low pressure pump to feed a surge tank that feeds the high pressure efi pump. Would work well for a autocross track car too. Down side is that its a bit more complex and you are running 2 pumps. A new sumped tank is better....but more expensive.

I'm working on my efi conversion again, LS1 pcm controlling efi and coil on plug ignition on a BB 440 mopar. I using a Bosch 044 inline pump from a sumped aluminum Hot Rod garage aluminum tank.

I am probably going to go this route myself...seems like a cheap and easy way of doing it...

This is how Steve Strope mounted the in-tank pump on the Dust'Ya Duster.

and they will never tell you if it did - but i bet it had starvation issues. The lack of baffles like the rock valley setup will cause the efi to fall flat on it's face if you expose the pickup and allow it to suck air.

It's the number one issue with retro fitting a conventional tank.

If the tank is below 1.4 tank and you stab it, corner hard or brake hard you have the chance to momentarily expose the pickup - it will kill the engine instantly - WHY? because the EFI works on pressure - the carb it has replaced had a fuel bowl, or two that would act as a resivor that will makeup for these momentary issues. With EFI you dont have that luxury
