I disagree. There are not lots of exceptions...or I would have likely heard of one. The correct answer is that 383/440 non-convertible cars are not supposed to have them. The answer shouldn't be that there could always be an exception! Otherwise, there could be exceptions to everything due to worker error but bringing up possible exceptions is not a good answer to a question regarding whether or not they were original equipment.

who cares if those cars have torque boxes welded in at the factory. Read all the posts no one answering this post has a car gtx 440 or coronet rt 440 with them in it. I have a hemi car 1968 charger with torque boxes and i own a 1968 charger rt 440 4 speed without torque boxes in the body.

Up to 70, the only hardtops or coupes with torque boxes normally were the Hemi cars.

Don't forget the high performance A-body cars, they had them too, mostly 4 speeds and convertibles, but again, there were lots of exceptions.

not meaning to hijack, but on the topic of torque boxes, 340 A bodies with manual transmissions got them. Automatics did not ( except converts ).
273 4 barrel 4 speeds in 67 did not have them. Did the 383 GTS in 67 have them?
