Dakfink, you might also want to consider the world aluminum block, it is also a good product. Just get the correct head studs for the block you buy because they valley studs are different. Tim
Thanks for the heads up!

I've got about $15k in my 572 with the only used parts being the Keith Black crank and the timing cover. That includes everything from the air cleaner (67 chrome dome), Edelbrock Carbs and the TTI headers.
It also took several years of searching for deals on parts to build it that cheap.
You can definitely build a stroker big block cheaper but it won't have the WOW factor when people look at it.
I say WOW alot when I see a Hemi. "WOW, that thing doesn't run NEAR as fast as it should for the money it cost".

What should they run for that money?

If you want bang for your buck buy a hayabusa!
My 408 C.I.,NOT, Duster loves whuppercycles for breakfast, lunch and dinner My son works for Rob Muzzy and he keeps telling me he is going to get one of Robs old racing bikes and teach me a lesson, Robs knows he, my son, can't do it. My son is a little bigger than the standard drag bike rider I wouldn't race one of Robs bikes on the street if he had his regular rider on it I pick the battles I think I can win Most street scooter riders can't get thier bikes to work at the track, let alone on the street BTW, I love picking on Hemi owners also, I'm a non discrimatory street racer

What does a Tim Banning FHO 540 cost? Seems like that is a very reputable builder and an engine that would produce a lot of power and reliability.
Darren
He is not cheap. Call him and you will find out and it all depends on the application.

I don't need to call and waste his time because I'm not in the market to buy anything, I asked as a point of reference for the rest of the thread, he has some pre-configured package engines listed on his site, just curious what a ballpark price is for something like that.

A buddy of mine called last year and the 540 is $19k. He typically doesn't build anything smaller since it cost the same as a 540.
He does have a 426 package on his web site but no pricing.
