I hope it is not fatal. What happened? Yesterday I ran the charger at cayuga and ran a best of 8.479 in the 1/8th at 85.73 mph, everything is ok. and yes, it's a hemi.

I don't know what happened. Everything on the top end is fine. Something on the bottom end is definitely toast. Right now, until we pull the engine back out, I am only guessing.

It 60ft'd real good with a 1.56, but it layed over at the top of 2nd and in 3rd on the 6.9 run. Not sure what we hurt, but its pretty bad, it was making a racket.

Zippy,

What is the biggest crank I can swing in one of these blocks using 2.2 rod journal?

I figured I would ask just in case I need to shop for a new bottom end.

Somebody may have gone bigger yet, but the biggest I have heard of so far is 4.75.

Muscle motors sells a crate engine set up like that:

I have heard that, it gets real close with the 4.75 around the cam if its not raised. I believe a small base circle cam needs to be used at that point.

Randy; on a standard height cam block stock or siamese, a 4.75 will clear (2.2 pins). If you're running a roller you definately have to degree the cam in. If you didn't have to worry about cam lobes a 5" would rotate. Dave

a fuel motor last about 3 minutes if that before it gets rebuilt. thats warm-up, burnout, back up and pass ... and i would say the SS/AH cars probably go about 30 passes before a rebuild.

Sooooo, what's your point???? fuel motors go over 8K and make 1,000 per cylinder...SS/AH motors are making over 900hp and zing to 10K with only 431 cubes....his motor doesn't go over 7K and makes about 700hp so it's not because it's a Hemi that its having issues..

Seriously, he's probably just venting, not really ripping on hemi's. Chill.
