My guess is the head came off the valve.

We lost a valve two years ago, but that heavy TRW piston absorbed most of the hit (the cylinder head wasn't so lucky). Sorry to see that amount of damage.

Very, very sorry to see this happen. Just remember in the back of your mind that things could have been way worse. You kept a beautiful car off the wall.

You can see the head of the valve pretty well in the 3rd picture, sitting directly on the cam tunnel. right behind the fracture.

Man, kaboom definitely describes that one...Sorry to see that man, your car is a beauty and was running good...definitely wasn't expecting to see anything along these lines about it.

Good luck getting it fixed...I have never had that much carnage, but can attest to the burns in the wallet this stuff can create lol...Just keep your head up and build it faster

Wow!!! What a mess. So sorry to see this, and as others have said, I am very glad that you didn't wreck the car and hurt your self as well.
Good luck with the rebuild, however you decide to do it.

That's nasty but not as bad as it could have been. Glad you and the car can keep going.

R5P7? They're getting cheaper... Not a lot of bottom end power from what I hear though. I struggle with the thoughts of the genIII hemi. One, because I can't really call it a hemi (cause it's not) and two, because it's visually unappealing (to me). That's just me though. I am sure you will find something that'll fit what you want to do, just right. And if you're like me, this just gives you an excuse to do some of the things you didn't do the first time, or just to deviate from that path and try something new. I rarely have an engine failure. I usually get bored and start changing things. Which sucks, because I can't afford to do that very well. Ah well. Good luck to you. Hope to hear it's running sometime in '13 if not sooner.

Really sorry to see that.

If you could, take pictures of every piece of the valve you find from different angles. Looks a lot like the one I dropped a few years ago, was the valve's fault. Never seen one do that much damage in one of these deals though.

Al's Hemi was pretty bad, but I think you're top dog here.

I feel for you..

Sorry for the loss... I agree with everyone else here, I'm glad that you're ok and the rest of the car's in one piece especially with that much carnage.
