I've owned my '70 Cuda for over thirty years (3rd owner). I seem to remember receiving some sort of decal from BFG about 25 years ago that was supposed to be put on the wheel. Some kind of warning, or something. Seemed odd that they even knew who I was. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'll have to dig around to see if I can find it.

I recently bought a 71 Javelin that has a MINT space saver (no rust/scratches/dryrot) setup, including the inflator. The wheel itself is orange. Tire is BFG, with white warning sticker. Should be same bolt pattern as Mopar 5 on 4.5. Does anyone know if this would be the same as a Mopar setup? Will likely be selling it. Guess I need to check by the valve stem for codes.

Impossible for it to be correct. The rim is completely different than a Mopar rim. Can't speak for the tire though. what is the tire size?

I had one of the AMC versions as well. Rim is wrong shape (has ribs in the bolt area). Tire is close, but not exact. I believe it's an E-78 and should be an F-78.
Correct herringbone pattern though.

What do you suppose the factory used on E-Body car equipped with 14" tires?
Everyone talks about the 7.75-14 and F78-14 spares, but what about the D70-14 space saver spares?

Snoopy: I have an original June 1970 dated 7.35x14 spare for my Aug 2, 1970 SPD 71 340 three speed Challenger. It is a 14x6.0 steel wheel car with full size wheel covers. Would the superceeded spare for a 7.35x14 be an E78x14, or??

Jim/Snoopy: Have either of you, or anyone for that matter ever seen an original E78x14 space saver? Does anyone know how to read the date coding on a space saver tire?? I think that Byron Fettig from North Dakota who is co-author with Dave Wise of a Mopar reference book are both members on this site. Their website is: www.Moparrmotorconsulting.com On their website are various date coded tires and the solved date code associated with it. I can't figure out for the life of me how to determine the date code on the space saver shown on the site or any of the other pertinant 70 and 71 tires shown. Can ayone help me out??

I haven't seen an E78-14 SS, but I do have a D70-14 SS.

Can you post the imprinted code from your tire?

That would be my guess. It's actually a D70-14.
